Omaha Steaks

Does anyone know if Omaha Steaks are trustworthy? They claim to list all ingredients and not hide anything, yet some of their foods contain natural flavors and such. To their credit, I did see a few things that had malted barley listed as an ingredient. That surprised me. I'm looking at getting more than just plain old steaks. Anyone have any experience with them?

The only time I have ordered from them I ordered tuna steaks. I emailed them and they got back to me within hours...and this was on a Sunday! They informed me that they were gluten-free, and the tuna was great. They were very helpful, so maybe if you email them about a particular product, they can let you know for sure if it's gluten-free or not. This was over a year ago, though, so maybe their policy has changed, but I was very pleased with them.

I contacted Omaha Steaks about their plain chicken breasts last month and was told that they are gluten free and actually have nothing added to them. I don't know about their other products, but they were very helpful when I called.

Regarding Omaha Steaks Co. I called their number 1-888-805-2288 today, 12/10/10, and asked about a gift I received (mixed order, stuffed sole, potatoes au gratin, and stuffed baked potatoes). They told me all these products were gluten-free. Then, because I wanted to double check, I looked it up on-line. The exact same order numbers for these items stated that they all contain gluten. Something is not right. I guess I won't be buying from this company until they decide to make definitive statements on their labeling and websites.

What do the labels on the products indicate? I think that would be your most accurate source of info. (also, this is a rather old thread from 2007)

This is an old topic. Information from March of 2007 may not be valid over three years later. Please reconfirm any information before relying on it.

Here is their current allergen list online. It notes not just wheat but gluten as well. Based on what I've seen there, I'd trust it:

As for the items Ms. C checked, stuffed sole and potatoes au gratin are pretty much ALWAYS going to have gluten commercially, and indeed the list says they do. I don't understand why stuffed baked potatoes would have gluten, and, according to the list at this link, they do not.

Hello  I was glutened by a person that knew it.  I'm having

as my last post stated, i was diagnosed via endoscopy on the 14th of june. i have been eating amazing home cooked meals, luckily, mainly cooked by my boyfriend who is extremely careful about contamination (and is an incredible cook at that). however, i find myself in a mental rut still. being 18, this is the time in my life where i should be exploring things, going out, having fun. yet every corner i turn i'm tortured by the amazing smell of something i can't have anymore. the wonderful sight of such yummy foods. it's near torture. if my boyfriend and his friend who lives with us buy something i can't have, they'll usually eat it outside of the house or the car or wherever we are - which is greatly appreciated - but even seeing a burger or chips or a sausage roll in their hands guts me almost beyond repair. i just wanna have it again too. i miss it. i feel left out and it makes me very sad all the time. it's not their fault. they are allowed to eat whatever they want to, whatever their intestines will allow. it just stings, bad. and i feel so ungrateful given i basically have a private chef who is doubly the love of my life. but it's just so hard. i know i'll adapt. i haven't given up hope.i just wanted to vent. thank you for reading

Thank you. I must have misinterpreted a study or something. Thank you for the clarification. Much appreciated. Almost three years into my celiac diagnosis and I'm still learning new things.

I wasn’t clear, glucagon and gadolinium were intravenous. I drank about 5 cups of the prep during 45 minutes. I feel very tired now, probably partly because I was nervous, and partly because I had to fast for 6 hours beforehand and wasn’t very hungry when I got home.
