gluten-free And Dairy-free Recovery Drinks?

I'm going on a 100-mile bike ride this weekend. The last time I did this, a friend handed me a recovery drink concoction and "forced" me to drink it... it really helped and I didn't feel sore at all the next day. I don't remember the brand... I am now on a gluten-free and dairy-free diet and am wondering if there are any gluten-free/DF recovery drinks that I can purchase quickly at a Whole Foods or health food store -- as in Friday (May 4). Thanks for any information...

Well, it's not in time for your ride, but you can try it for next time. I like Endurox recovery drinks. You have to mix it yourself, but it mixes rather easy. It is gluten free, but does contain traces of soy, so I can't drink it anymore. I miss it. Now I mix egg white protien powder with dextrose. Not the same

If I remember correctly, Endurox R4 has whey protein in the ingredients list so this isn't a product for someone on a dairy free diet. I used this product for many years and with great success until I found out I could no longer have dairy. I've been on the hunt for something just as good that is both dairy free & gluten free but have found nothing.

I asked my coach if he had any ideas and he suggested Gatorade. While it does help... it's nowhere near as good as Endurox R4

I'm curious about the Gatorade...other than tea, because I can't drink carbonated stuff, I have nothing to drink (OJ seems to bother me and now I think lemonade does too). So Gatorade doesn't have anything in it we shouldn't have? I may go buy some today if so! I'm really dehydrated because I'm just not a water drinker and afraid to drink anything. Thanks for the info - KarenDianne

I've never been a runner, but I used to have a problem with dehydration/resulting migraines when working out. I am diabetic, so I was better off not using Gatorade...I did a lot of research for something beyond water that I could drink. I used Ultima Replenisher. Their site doesn't say if they are dairy free, but I would think so...it does say it's gluten free. It's a powder, so you'd have to pre-mix, but it's available at running stores and at my local WFM.

Hi

Gatorade is gluten free, and dairy free. I do have lots of problem with acidity and acid reflux, and gatorade is still to strong for me. My kids drink it especially my middle one which has the same gluten intolerant that I have, and she doesn't have any problem to it.

I hope you have lots fun running.

Best regards.

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
