Wow! Take us along with you with a pictorial tour.

CarlaB Enthusiast

Well yeah, I can certainly see why!

Have a great time! We adopted one kid from Russia, so we were in far-eastern Europe. It's very different from here! We took the train there, so we got to see some of the countryside ... but it was January so there was snow.

Take DEET so that you don't get bitten by any ticks. ;) Lyme is on every continent except Antarctica!

Have a wonderful time!

:)

Thanks for the reminder, I had forgotten the insect repellent!

Thanks for the cheery wishes everyone. I'll try to post now and then when I stop to send email to friends and family. And I'll definitely give everyone the low-down on food - since that seems to be the major travel question posted!

AAAAGGGGHHHH will this week never end!!!!!!!

Hi all!

I'm in Slovenia, having gone through Croatia and Bosnia to get here. Tonight I head for Budapest.

Food has been no problem. I found rice cakes in Croatia and the hostel here in Ljubljana lists which foods on it's menu are gluten-free. Flour is used far less often as a filler so I've had no problems with CC. In Italy I bought gluten-free cookies to bring with me and have been munching through those as I go. The hardest time was the plane ride over here, lots of time in airports, but I had breakfast bars and nut bars for that.

24 more days to go!

It sounds WONDERFUL!!!! I hope you're having such a good time. Glad that food hasn't been an issue so far. Pretty amazing that they use less flour in those countries as filler than the US -- bet they have a lot less Celiac, too!!

Keep us posted -- I am so happy for you! Take care . . . . .

Love,

Lynne

Thank you for the advice. I’ve actually never checked for nutritional deficiencies, but for as long as I can remember, I’ve always taken vitamin and mineral supplements — otherwise my symptoms get worse. This week I stopped eating gluten to confirm whether my symptoms are really caused by it. Starting next week, I’ll reintroduce gluten — it’s sad to go back to how I was before — but at least I’ll be able to take the necessary tests properly. I think the diagnostic process will be long, but at least I’m happy that I finally decided to address this doubt I’ve had for years.

I finally got rhe answer and Tylenol is ok. Thanks everyone

Hey Julie! I was in a similar situation before my biopsy and my gastro said Tylenol was fine. Just avoid ibuprofen or anything anti-inflammatory until you're cleared. Hope your surgery goes smoothly!

I don't see how cornstarch could alter the test results. Where did you read that?

For pain relief I take a combination of Thiamine (Benfotiamine), Pyridoxine B 6, and Cobalamine B12.  The combination of these three vitamins has analgesic effects.  I have back pain and this really works.  The B vitamins are water soluble and easily excreted.   Hope this helps!  Keep us posted on your results!
