Old El Paso Enchilada Sauce

A friend wants to make dinner and asked if Old El Paso Enchilada sauce is safe. Neither of us have the ingredients in front of us and we can't find it online. I know they are a company who won't hide the ingredients...but I don't have the ingredients to let her know if it is safe or not.

If anyone could let me know if its safe or not, I'd be grateful

I understand that it is NOT gluten free. I used to use it all the time and quit. I use a package now I think it is by McCormick and I think it is really good.

I went to www.generalmills.com and clicked on Old El Paso medium enchilada sauce and it showed a side label which stated as an ingredient -- wheat gluten-- and on the allergy part it listed wheat and soy. I hope this helps some.

thanks both to jenny and karen :).

The link that jenny provided had the labels to the mild, medium, and hot versions of the sauce that we would use...and they all contain wheat gluten. Delightful!

I don't know if this helps but here's a recipe for enchilada sauce. It's pretty basic stuff when you take out all the scary ingredients and the wheat gluten. Maybe you could make it ahead of time for your friend to use in the rest of her recipe if she can't find a safe, pre-made version?

Do not despair. The Old El Paso taco sauce is very good and contains no wheat or gluten and I called them to make sure. Now perhaps that is only in Canada. I use it on my enchiladas.

once I found out how easy it is to make I make it and freeze it. It's really very simple. And If I make mexican beef (chuck roast + Peppers + spices in a slow cooker), I make that first and use the juices as the beef broth in the enchilada sauce. YUM! Might be time for another batch....

"Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.
