Some Testing Results

My doctor did blood test on me for Celiacs. It was the one that has to do with the antibodies. Its the test with the Tg and so on. That test was negative. I went ahead and ordered the genetic test from Entrolab. I got it today. I am not sure it was necessary to order but did anyway. If the genetic test comes back negative I assume I can finally stop wondering if Celiacs is my problem. Is this correct in my thinking? I appreciate thoughts on this.

Nearly everyone diagnosed with "celiac" will have one or two "celiac genes." However, some get it without the genes.

Also, you can have a problem every bit as severe from non-celiac gluten sensitivity and not have the genes, too.

So a negative result for "celiac genes" will just tell you that you probably don't have classic celiac. It won't tell you if you have a problem with gluten or not.

You should consider doing the other Enterolab testing or a dietary test to figure that out.

Hi Hathor,

I am thinking I will continue to do some of the other test with entro lab. I am thinking I want to find out to if maybe I have problem with yeast. Thanks for letting me know what else might be going on.

Your dr. can also order the gene test, which if you have insurance, may be cheaper than paying out of pocket for the gene test through enterolab.

The majority 95%+ of Celiacs have one of the two genes, but there are biopsy proven Celiacs without the gene....we have a few on this board.

Keep in mind that you may not have "true" Celiac, but a non-Celiac gluten intolerance...meaning you still have a problem with gluten.

I went ahead and paid for the test. I have trouble with my doctor doing all I want. I hate to spend the money but figure if it gives me some peace of mind its worth it.

I guess I can't consider it all over with after all. I have an appt to see a gastro doctor and will talk to him about everything maybe he will do the right thing.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
