OK, so my hubby is throwing me a surprise anniversary party (he failed to account that my family cant keep a secret, lol) and I have ordered the cake mixes and bought 6 brand new cake pans all the same size, lol... now I have to find a "good" icing recipe for my yellow cake. Anyone know any great ones?

P.S. if your near western Nebraska on nov 10th stop in!

better than sex cake

well, that sounds like a very interesting cake, but maybe should wait until AFTER the relatives leave for that one :D but please either post the recipe or pm it to me, would love to try it out on my hubby =))

Pillsbury frostings

I just assumed they would have tons of gluten in the over the counter brands, never even gave them a thought :D

If you are wanting an icing that you can decorate with . . . I use a version of Wilton's buttercream frosting:

1 cup of shortening (Crisco)

2 lbs of powdered sugar

Pinch of salt

1 Tbls of clear vanilla flavoring

1/2 Tbls of clear butter flavoring

enough milk to make it the consistency you want

Wilton's original recipe calls for twice as much shortening but I don't think it needs it. It also calls for less vanilla and no butter flavoring but I like the extra. You can use water instead of milk if you need to. The wilton clear flavoring is gluten-free - you don't have to use clear, but if you want a very white icing or a white icing that will take tinting/coloring better, then use clear (found at Wal-Mart in the craft/Wilton section or at Michaels)

Also, this recipe is VERY forgiving on it's quantities. I make gluten-free cupcakes that I keep in the freezer for whenever one of my children has a birthday party to go to. I don't measure anything, I just try to keep the approximate above proportions to make just a couple of Tablespoons - enough to frost a couple of cupcakes - I find I have to "finish off" what doesn't get used and the less there is the better.

Hope you are practicing your "surprised" look. :o -:lol: Have Fun and Congratulations!

I can attest that this is a great kind of cake - not sure about its claim to be better than sex but it sure is good! Around here where I live, it's served with Skor Bar bits sprinkled on top - just something to add!

Pillsbury! :D

I use it all the time now.

OH...and no special mixes for me...I use the Gluten Free Yellow Cake recipe on allrecipes.com . I add about 3 heaping tablespoons of vanilla pudding powder to the dry ingredients and it gives it a really moist texture - just like the gluten laden store bought mixes.

:)

But M&M's contain milk, and would not be at all like a Tootsie Roll.

I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets for disability because I show no signs of celiac BECAUSE IM GLUTENFREE! Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver. After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

M&M Peanuts. About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't. Click the links to compare nutritional values.  Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.  I use them as a gluten free substitute for a peanut butter sandwich.  Try her on grass fed, pasture fed milk. While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

I see it everyday on my feeds.  They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts.  I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field.  Some days I would just like to scream.  So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach them properly. I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.
