Like a dutiful cult member who always follows her cult founder's commands, I put snowflake on over my pots and pans when I got home. Why does that just sound so wrong. :P Anyway, I am still not yet convinced that it isn't too dark, but it wasn't as dark as I thought it would be and looked quite nice actually. :P

So has anyone figured out if getting the custom kits is more economical than a la carte items??

...

Has anyone been a good little obsessed cult member and calculated that out?!?!

Um, I did. Is anyone surprised that I have?! I actually put the items in my cart separately, including brushes, then did them all as part of a kit. Worked out to be cheaper, depending on what all you want. B)

umm, big containers are all around $10, as are the brushes, so as long as you don't waste cour custom kits on small sizes or lip gloss you come out ahead (dad's a financial guy. I felt compelled to check this before ordering anything).

Yeah, what she said.

So what is tomorrow? It's casual Friday isn't it? Maybe I will branch out and go for fancy friday or floozy friday. I need to know in advance so I can lay out my facial palate for tomorrow. :P

I may do froggy Friday and wear green so I can try my green eyeshadows, lol.

or

Perhaps floozy Friday and wear snowflake, pink ribbon, and silver spoon all as eyeshadows.

I vote for flashy friday and we all have to wear an glimmer eyeshadow, i love the sparkles

You know, I'm not finding the eyeshadows very shimmery, lol. I think there is something defective about my eyes...snowflake too dark, glimmery eyeshadow not glimmering... :o

Paula, I have Thank You. It's a really pretty rose, raspberry color (gosh, I am terrible at describing colors, it's very pretty!)

I have to admit I am feeling ok about the special not being announced yet. I totally didn't get my hopes up, I was just cool, calm, and collected all day, nonchalant even. I told myself, they're not going to change it, and they didn't! So all is good.........

CHANGE THE SPECIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got my Aubrey Nicole stuff. Hmmm....I don't think EM has much to worry about. Most of the foundations instantly turn bright orange on my face (even" fairest light cool"). I found one that kind of works, but it accentuates my pitted scars, so I don't really understand the point of it.

They did send me two free blush samples and (oh no) I really like one of them. It's called dusty rose and it's almost a dead ringer for Nars O on my face.

Hmph, well that's that. Back to the EM site to fill up my cart

LOL! I've tried to be patient today too. Even fooled myself into believing I was....HAH!

What are they thinking? Are they just waiting for the EM cult members to email them so they know we are waiting for the new special and they can make it a crappy one???????? We have to play it cool this time. We can do this....

I hate to admit it, but I'm kind of glad it wasn't a huge hit. I don't know what I would do if I had to worry about filling carts in 2 places.

Ladies, I have come away from the EM community boards with a wealth of information!

I spent the last 10-15 minutes reading through some of the threads and there are so many great tips. How do they know all this stuff?!?!?

An interesting tidbit:

If your pores are large, apply tinted Silk Dust first, then your foundation on top of that, blush, and so on.

I was thinking the same thing myself.

I don't know how I really looked, but it felt nice to be dressed in something other than sweats, lol!

My almost one year old dog has done a number on our shoes and slippers too. Gotta love 'em, but it's so much nicer once they get past that chewing stage!

Very neat, I have the TSD and will try this today!!! Thanks, Julie!

Well, ladies I have so much shopping today...Groceries at 2 stores and I told my daughter I'd take her to Walmart to get some warm boots and thermals. We will be out selling Girl Scout cookies tonight and it's 20*F right now. I'm shivering already!

Oh, and I talked to my hair dresser yesterday...she told me to go ahead and put in the color myself and she will tell me how it looks and if I need a lighter/darker color and then she's highlighting it. I haven't done it yet, but will soon.

cruelshoes Enthusiast

There is no new special. There will never be a new special. :( Do you think they are waiting to do a new special until they unveil the new website they keep posting news about?

Hoping against hope, I put together a new eyeshadow sampler last night:

Thank You

Hot Chocolate

Wild Flowers

Pots and Pans

Emerald Eyeliner

Ping Pong

Starry Eyed

To Do List

Mystic Night

Floating Feathers

Any body have Veranda blush? I like the description and want to put it into my next sampler kit. Honestly, I wish it was 3 blushes and 1 foundation in the sampler kit.

dlp252 Apprentice

Ugg, so much for getting up EARLIER to put on my makeup, lol. I slept late, BUT in true cult-like fashion, I skipped shaving my legs to I would have time for makeup. TMI? I think not! I also skipped taking my MULTITUDE of vitamins this morning...heck, that alone saved me 5-10 minutes. :P

What's new for today: I used my long handled kabuki to put on my foundation (up to now I've been using it for blush only)...it was nice and clean since I washed my brushes this weekend, so I decided to give it a try with foundation. Worked GREAT! I LOVE that little brush!

Eye shadow...Good China (my fav so far) as a base, and SNOWFLAKE near the lash line and in the crease and as a liner. I'm wearing a pretty lilac crocheted jacket...note to self...MUST find LILAC tennies! Oh, and lilac lip gloss.

You must not have ginger peach or diary they are full of shimmer. I love the ginger peach, I cant wait to get the rest of the shimmers, ughhh when will they put up a new deal, i want to order.

Nope...diary is in the order IN MY STUPID CART! Ginger Peach might be in the next order IF THEY WILL EVER CHANGE THE SPECIAL.

So all is good.........

Noooooo, something is rotten in Texas!!! They haven't changed it YET!!! Bah!

Hmmm....I don't think EM has much to worry about.

Phew! Cult calmness....phew.

Oh...you know, this is a great idea. I'm going to ask my hairdresser if I can put the dark in myself and just have her highlight!!!!! Yay, that will save me money! She never gets my dark dark enough to suit me. It may because at my age I would have greying hair, so the stark dark wouldn't look natural, but it could be a little darker! This way I can put the shade I WANT in and she can highlight!

I haven't tried Veranda YET...it's been in one or another of my kits a few times...it got kicked out again for another color, but I think I should put it back in. I kept trying the pinks trying to find my perfect one, and I think I found it in Pink Ribbon...I need one with more lavendar now...

Hum, off to peruse my shopping cart AGAIN, lol.

That's a good idea Donna. Money saved at the hairdresser can add up to money to spend at EM! Yay!

My hairdresser is awesome. She even tells me what products to buy at Walmart that will do the same things as the ones they sell and at much cheaper prices.

Well, I'm off...maybe when I check in later we will be lucky enough to have a NEW SPECIAL up!!!

ewalton Newbie

I've been a lurking cult member but decided to speak up.

You all got me hooked back around page 10- and I never ever wore makeup before! This is crazy but so much fun. I'm going so crazy over the no-new-special thing! I have a cart full of stuff just *waiting*.

My favorite thing has definitely been playing with the eyeshadows- I got the mini eyeshadow kit in my first order and got a few others in my second. So far I've discovered I can't wear the black eyeliner, but purple and green eyeshadow look great with my blue eyes!

And now I want a nice new haircut...and maybe some earrings....I'm turning all girly, it's so weird. But fun :)

Hi Em and welcome! Glad you finally joined in, you've been holding out on us!

I love the eyeshadows too. Funny thing is, I've worn eye shadow every day since I got EM and I know it's more than I ever wore it my entire life before. It's been fun! I'm enjoying the girly-ness too.

What are your favorites?

Hey ladies, I figured out why the new special isn't up yet. Carina is in New York so everyone working at EM is not really working very hard, lol. You know the old while the cat's away deal...

... because at my age I would have greying hair, ...

I just loved the phrasing here. It implies so much

....if I weren't so naturally gifted with beautiful hair

...if I weren't rich enough to remain looking like I'm 28

...if I didn't wear a dead raccoon as a hairpiece

you could fill in anything and it still works!

Hey there, have you been tested for allergies? You may not only have celiac disease but be allergic. I have celiac disease and am allergic to Barley, wheat and rye.

I have osteopenia and have cracked three vertebrae.  Niacin is connected to osteoporosis! Do talk to your nutritionist and doctor about supplementing with B vitamins.  Blood tests don't reveal the amount of vitamins stored inside cells.  The blood is a transportation system and can reflect vitamins absorbed from food eaten in the previous twenty-four to forty-eight hours.  Those "normal limits" are based on minimum amounts required to prevent disease, not levels for optimal health.   Keep us posted on your progress.   B Vitamins: Functions and Uses in Medicine https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9662251/ Association of dietary niacin intake with osteoporosis in the postmenopausal women in the US: NHANES 2007–2018 https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11835798/ Clinical trial: B vitamins improve health in patients with coeliac disease living on a gluten-free diet https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19154566/   Nutritional Imbalances in Adult Celiac Patients Following a Gluten-Free Diet https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8398893/ Nutritional Consequences of Celiac Disease and Gluten-Free Diet https://www.mdpi.com/2036-7422/15/4/61 Simplifying the B Complex: How Vitamins B6 and B9 Modulate One Carbon Metabolism in Cancer and Beyond https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9609401/

Thank you so much for the clarification! Yes to these questions: Have you consulted dietician?  Have you been checked for nutritional deficiencies?  Osteoporosis? Thyroid? Anemia?  Do you take any supplements, or vitamins? I’m within healthy range for nutritional tests, thyroid and am not anemic. I do have osteopenia. I don’t take any medications, and the dietician was actually a nutritionist (not sure if that is the same thing) recommended by my physician at the time to better understand gluten free eating.    I almost wish the gluten exposure had triggered something, so at least I’d know what’s going on. So confusing!    Many thanks!

@JudyLou,  I have dermatitis herpetiformis, too!  And...big drum roll... Niacin improves dermatitis herpetiformis!   Niacin is very important to skin health and intestinal health.   You're correct.  dermatitis herpetiformis usually occurs on extensor muscles, but dermatitis herpetiformis is also pressure sensitive, so blisters can form where clothing puts pressure on the skin. Elastic waist bands, bulky seams on clothing, watch bands, hats.  Rolled up sleeves or my purse hanging on my arm would make me break out on the insides of my elbows.  I have had a blister on my finger where my pen rested as I write.  Foods high in Iodine can cause an outbreak and exacerbate dermatitis herpetiformis. You've been on the gluten free diet for a long time.  Our gluten free diet can be low in vitamins and minerals, especially if processed gluten free foods are consumed.  Those aren't fortified with vitamins like gluten containing products are.  Have you consulted dietician?  Have you been checked for nutritional deficiencies?  Osteoporosis? Thyroid? Anemia?  Do you take any supplements, medicine, or vitamins? Niacin deficiency is connected to anemia.  Anemia can cause false negatives on tTg IgA tests.  A person can be on that borderline where symptoms wax and wane for years, surviving, but not thriving.  We have a higher metabolic need for more nutrients when we're sick or emotionally stressed which can deplete the small amount of vitamins we can store in our bodies and symptoms reappear.   Exposure to gluten (and casein in those sensitive to it) can cause an increased immune response and inflammation for months afterwards. The immune cells that make tTg IgA antibodies which are triggered today are going to live for about two years. During that time, inflammation is heightened.  Those immune cells only replicate when triggered.  If those immune cells don't get triggered again for about two years, they die without leaving any descendents programmed to trigger on gluten and casein.  The immune system forgets gluten and casein need to be attacked.  The Celiac genes turn off.  This is remission.    Some people in remission report being able to consume gluten again without consequence.   However, another triggering event can turn the Celiac genes on again.   Celiac genes are turned on by a triggering event (physical or emotional stress).  There's some evidence that thiamine insufficiency contributes to the turning on of autoimmune genes.  There is an increased biological need for thiamine when we are physically or emotionally stressed.  Thiamine cannot be stored for more than twenty-one days and may be depleted in as little as three during physical and emotional stresses. Mitochondria without sufficient thiamine become damaged and don't function properly.  This gets relayed to the genes and autoimmune disease genes turn on.  Thiamine and other B vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients are needed to replace the dysfunctional mitochondria and repair the damage to the body.   I recommend getting checked for vitamin and mineral deficiencies.  More than just Vitamin D and B12.  A gluten challenge would definitely be a stressor capable of precipitating further vitamin deficiencies and health consequences.   Best wishes!
