My son & husband were just diagnosed with Celiacs a few weeks ago. I'm reading & learning but having to do so in a hurry... I'm pregnant and due in a week. I have no energy & need to send loved ones to the stores for me. I just have a few questions that I was hoping someone could help me with. I'm great at doing research but I'm sure you know... LOTS to do at once.

*Which brands of ice creams are gluten free?

*What about juices? I'm trying to think of quick things I can let me son grab out of the cupboard- capri suns, boxed juice?

*I read that Coke was gluten free. What about pepsi?

And also, I need to watch out for things that say "natural flavor", correct?

Thanks for any quick, easy help you can offer right now. I just want to have him ready for when I go into the hospital.

Oh... and I should add... we are a SUPER healthy family, so don't let my juice, coke & ice cream scare you. ;-)

For juice boxes we go with Capri Sun. They are owned by Kraft who labels all hidden gluten. I always call to double check - it makes me feel better. And they confirmed Capri Sun was gluten-free. Also there is Juicy Juice, Apple & Eve, and Welches brand juices are gluten-free.

Ice Cream - we go with Edy's. Their website lists ice cream by flavors with ingredients and whether or not gluten is present - which is only like in the flavors with cookies and obvious stuff like that.

Coke and Pepsi products are gluten-free.

Ice cream is usually clearly labled if it contains wheat or not. Sometimes I send my husband to the store with a cell phone and have him read the ingrediants to me over the phone if he is unsure. Good luck!

To the OP, Congrats on your baby! I may be totally out of line saying this, so feel free to shut me up, I was just wondering if you were going to keep the baby gluten free also since your husband and son have celiacs. Since you are so new to this, you may not be aware of all the research pointing autism to be linked with celiac disease and gluten intolerance. Im pregnant also and have celiacs, and have been doing a lot of research on autistic kids linked with undiagnosed celiacs being on gluten filled formula's and food when they were infants. Again, Im sorry if I am out of line, I just wanted to pass along some information from one pregnant mom to another.

Thank you :) and NO, you're not out of line. I plan on nursing this baby (as I did my son for 2.5 years) & I plan on being gluten free, as well. Our whole house is gluten free right now & I plan on it staying that way. I have no intentions on giving this newborn any gluten. I did read however, that at 1 year old we should give the baby gluten for 6 months and then test to see if he has it as well. Have you heard of this?

I have heard on testing children, but from what I heard you are supposed to test around age 3. Autism usually shows up between ages one and three, so personally, I would like to wait until he/she is past the "danger" zone. We have four children in our close extended family with autism and three of those kids have been diagnosed as celiac's in the last year- the third has not been tested but does have serious gastointestinal issues, so I am betting she is a celiac also. As with most autistic children, they were fine and right on mark with age appropriate cognative growth and between ages one and three, they all regressed. So personally, I will definitly not be testing until the baby turns three when the period of rapid brain growth and development has slightly slowed. Im going to be crazy strict (or maybe just crazy :D lol).

Since you are super healthy may I recomend Stonyfield organic vanilla and Julie's organic vanilla. I only eat vanilla due to other issues that keeps me away from chocolate!

Breyer's and Ben & Jerry's are supposed to be gluten-free unless it says otherwise--like if it has cookies or something. I like Kozy Shack pudding--it's all safe.

      So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.

      I used to be able to get the Rivera yougut i havent been able to get it lately. I like getting it did say it did say gluten free. I just looking for a good yogurt that gluten free that i can add some fruit and nuts to any suggestion would be helpful  thanks
