OH, ok. I know the show you are talking about, with the actress who played the daughter on 8 Simple Rules and that guy that was on Roseanne. I just didn't know the name of the show, looks cute :)

Yep--that's it. :) Mindless, but funny, nonetheless

Yes, they should be announcing the new contestants for DWTS any day now--I remember hearing Donny Osmond say he had been asked.

Big Bang is on right before Two and a Half Men--it's about geeks who live ascoss the hall from a cute, perky, but kinda dumb blonde. The geeks are so OC that it just makes me laugh.

 OMG I LOVE that show! very, very silly and VERY OCD geeks.....quite clever. Makes me guffaw out loud, the couple of times I"ve seen it....

tonight we watched American Idol and Family guy....

I am also a big fan of the nerd show!! haha I LOVE IT!! Sheldon has MAJOR ocd, cracks me up. I find myself laughing out loud at every episode of that show. VERY funny.

American Idol is the current saving grace. It is also pretty funny right now with all the bad singers.....gotta laugh at those.

Thank Goodness Antiques Roadshow is not in re-runs! ha (does that make me a nerd that I watch that show, I LOVE IT).

Hey guys, I'm an actor in NYC and this strike is effecting everyone. One of the big issues is the web. They are posting tv shows on the web and they aren't really monitored so they don't get their residual. That totally sucks for them! Basically there is NO pilot season so there won't be very many new shows in the Fall. That's going to suck too. As for us actors in NYC it's getting crazy! All the LA talent is relocating to NYC for theater and the auditions are packed and horrendous, that makes less job opportunities for us live theater actors. I do feel that in the long run this will be for the better of the writer. It's going to be a LONG while before this clears up.

Not to mention the stage hand local one IATSE strike we had in late November hurt/helped the industry. Also, FYI Actors Equity, the stage acting unions Production Contract (that's 98% of the Broadway shows contract) ends this summer. I'm on the sub negotiating committee and it's already getting ugly for us too. The writers strike is hitting hard for agents too, they don't get their commission on tv shows (and it's a LOT) and then Broadway strikes....and I wouldn't be surprised if it strikes again...so watch out! Things I think, are going to get uglier!

Agreed not very good news...and what is it again that the writers are striking over?

melrobsings Contributor

many things, but mostly residuals over web sites and youtube type stuff and over all pay. they really do'nt get all the credit that they deserve too I feel anyway.

Well I was hoping it would get resolved quickly, but after all you said it sounds like it's a lot more complicated.

Last night I gave Cashmere Mafia a try

melrobsings Contributor

The writers are waiting for all the shows to run out of new episodes and the public will get mad and they hope that will put more presure on the Producers League.....the Producers are sort of waiting for the same thing...I think it's gunna be a few more months.

I miss Greys and Private Practice bad too!!!!! The reruns and reality shows are wearing me out too!!!!

Okay, can someone who gets Ugly Betty please explain it to me? LOL I mean, every time I try to watch it, I just kind of sit there like this

Why do people like this show? LOL I mean, it must be great, because people rave about it, but I don't get it...

I think if you haven't watched it, or have no idea about the characters and intertwining storylines, it would be confusing to jump in on it now.

I just love it, it's super cute, has a really good message with what the main character Betty is a representation of, and the characters are all so quirky.

It's also soap opera-ish crazy, and funny, and in parts dramatic. It's just a fun imo.

Ok how I see Ugly Betty

In the scheme of things Betty is the "good guy", unsullied, salt of the earth, honest, loyal, intelligent, good-hearted, ambitious but not to point of cut-throat; she has no guile, can be gullible, has a positive attitude; not shallow but deep

and, she's "swimming" with the sharks in the fashion magazine industry. Those in the "business" are her mirror opposites and she is desperately trying to fit like a square peg in a round hole. Her boss is a newbie at what he is doing, and behind the scenes the other magazine characters are scheming to take over, undermine her and her boss. Most times Betty is just floating amongst all these strong personalities trying to do what's right, trying to keep afloat, trying to stay alive, and basically trying to keep her boss to focus on running the magazine. She oftentimes is the reason he is successful. Her family is quirkly: a nephew who knows he wants to be in fashion industry and can rattle off names of models and designers as if he's been in the fashion industry all his adult life (hey he's a teen!); her father is a wonderful man who wants his family to be happy & healthy; her sister is an air-head who sometimes gets in Betty's way of achieving her goals in life. The sister needs a crash-course in "self-reliance" . The sister has always relied on her physical looks her whole life, while Betty was short-changed in the physical beauty dept. and has always relied on her brain. The sister's have a love-hate dynamic: the beautiful older sister - who has achieved nothing during her existence is jealous of Betty's education and career and she's always trying to compete with Betty for the father's love. The father loves his two daughters equally and you can tell he misses his deceased wife. Betty takes care of things on the homefront in the same qualified manner as she does at work. But there too things spiral out of her control.

Betty is a symbol of the spirit of achievers who do not get recognition in life; who hum through "making things happen" while others get the credit and monetary compensation for it. She's the underdog: the everyman.

Wow. I think I'll have to start watching this show now :)

DingoGirl Enthusiast

Ugly Betty is a very cute show.......Betty is quite a likable character. Quirky and fun. Did anybody mention that it's a show that is shown in various versions around the world? All of them, I believe, based on Mexico's Le Fea Mas Bella. It's taken off in popularity all over the place.

Yes! Writers' strike making progress! This pleases me the most as the Oscars can now air, with writers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never miss the Oscars. :)

And now.......I've gotten sucked into Lost.......what in hell is going on in that show.

I saw the report that it was over too, YAY!!!!!!

But what does it all mean? When will our shows return? They have to write all the remaining eps of the season yet, and then shoot them, don't they? How long will that take?

We need our forum actress to shed some light...Melrobsings, where are you?!?!?!

They were talking about it on the radio show I was listening to this morning. Sounds like most shows are coming back in April or May.

thank goodness! I miss the office!

So I guess today it is OFFICIALLY over!!

I found this info:

CBS and NBC have announced the return of many of their scripted series as TV production resumed Wednesday following a three-month writers strike.

CBS' "How I Met Your Mother," "Two and a Half Men" and "The Big Bang Theory" will return with new episodes March 17. Producers will make nine new episodes of each before the season ends.

"CSI: Miami" and "Cold Case" will return in late March. Others are set for early April returns, including "CSI" on April 3

NBC announced that original episodes of several of its series will return in April, beginning with "My Name is Earl" on April 3, and, a week later, "30 Rock," "The Office," "Scrubs" and "ER."

Have you tried Pure Encapsulations supplements? This is a brand my doctor recommends for me. I have no issues with this brand.
    • asaT
plant sources of calcium, such as spinach, have calcium bound to oxalates, which is not good. best source of calcium is unfortunately dairy, do you tolerate dairy? fermented dairy like kefir is good and or a little hard cheese. i do eat dairy, i can only take so much dietary restriction and gluten is hard enough! but i guess some people do have bad reactions to it, so different for everyone.

i take b12, folate, b2, b6, glycine, Nac, zinc, vk2 mk4, magnesium, coq10, pqq, tmg, creatine, omega 3, molybdnem (sp) and just started vit d. quite a list i know.  I have high homocysteine (last checked it was 19, but is always high and i finally decided to do something about it) and very low vitamin d, 10. have been opposed to this supp in the past, but going to try it at 5k units a day. having a pth test on friday, which is suspect will be high. my homocysteine has come down to around 9 with 3 weeks of these supplements and expect it to go down further. i also started on estrogen/progesterone. I have osteoporosis too, so that is why the hormones.  anyway, i think all celiacs should have homocysteine checked and treated if needed (easy enough with b vit, tmg). homocysteine very bad thing to be high for a whole host of reasons. all the bad ones, heart attack , stroke, alzi, cancer..... one of the most annoying things about celiacs (and there are so many!) is the weight gain. i guess i stayed thin all those years being undiagnosed because i was under absorbing everything including calories. going gluten-free and the weight gain has been terrible, 30#, but i'm sure a lot more went into that (hip replacement - and years of hip pain leading to inactivity when i was previously very active, probably all related to celiacs, menopause) yada yada. i seemed to lose appetite control, like there was low glp, or leptin or whatever all those hormones are that tell you that you are full and to stop eating. my appetite is immense and i'm never full. i guess decades or more ( i think i have had celiacs since at least my teens - was hospitalized for abdominal pain and diarrhea for which spastic colon was eventually diagnosed and had many episodes of diarrhea/abdominal pain through my 20's. but that symptom seemed to go away and i related it to dairy much more so than gluten. Also my growth was stunted, i'm the only shorty in my family. anyway, decades of malabsorption and maldigestion led to constant hunger, at least thats my theory. then when i started absorbing normally, wham!! FAT!!!

Great advise there I agree with the aniexty part, and the aura migraine has I suffer both, I've also read some great books that have helped I'm going too look the one you mentioned up too thankyou for that, I find a camomile tea just a small one and a gentle wind down before bed has helped me too, I suffer from restless leg syndrome and nerve pain hence I don't always sleep well at the best of times , racing mind catches up I have decorated my whole house in one night in my mind before 🤣 diet changes mindset really help , although I have to say it never just disappears, I find once I came to terms with who I am I managed a lot better  , a misconception is for many to change , that means to heal but that's not always the case , understanding and finding your coping mechanisms are vital tools , it's more productive to find that because there is no failure then no pressure to become something else , it's ok to be sad it's ok to not sleep , it's ok to worry , just try to see it has a journey not a task 🤗
    • nanny marley
I agree there I've tryed this myself to prove I can't eat gluten or lactose and it sets me back for about a month till I have to go back to being very strict to settle again
