Hi,

I'm seeking information on these 2 problems. Just found out my EBV from when I had mononucleosis at age 14 is reactivated. ND said my numbers are way above the normal range. She doubled some of my supplements and told me it was the cause of my severe fatigue.

She also said one of my hormones is causing my adrenal glands to secrete more than it should. It's 2 points above normal. Is this considered adrenal fatigue? She told me to get a supplement for it which I cannot find. Anyone else taking a good supplement for AF? Has it helped with sleep problems?

If any of you has information about either of these subjects, please feel free to post it here.

Thanks,

Joni

A good friend of mine's daughter is suffering from this too. She had mono when she was 5. This last year, she was diagnosed with crohn's disease, when they finally got the crohn's under control, then her epstein barr decided to flare. From what her doctor said, this happened because of the stress on her body from the crohn's disease, which makes perfect sense, to us. Her doctor says the only thing you can do is get as much rest as you can and hope for the best. It can take months for the fatigue to go away. This girl is a senior, with graduation in just a week or so. She has been dealing with this for about 4 months now.

I think the best advice is to get as much rest as you can, try not to overdo. I too, worry about this. I had mono at 14, and the eptein barr virus stays doormant in your system for the rest of your life, and can flare at any time, it will always show up in your bloodwork. My number stays around 9, hers was around 1000.

hey,

I am sorry. That is too bad. I had mono at 15. Years later my mom had a resurgance of EBV. It was bad for her. She hurt and was exhausted. She couldn't sleep well either. I ask her what she did. The only thing I remember is she was on an anti-viral medication for a while. She pulled through though.

Good luck

I take Isocort for my adrenals. It is a natural product. You can find it online.

What happened to your friend sounds similar to what I think happened to me. I was dx'd with Celiac and did great for a few months then felt horrible, achy legs, waking up feeling hungover, can't sleep and completely fatigued within an hour of waking up. I hope your friends daughter can get through her graduation fine, it is such a great yet stressful time for a senior. Maybe she can rest over the summer.

I wonder what kind of anti-viral she took? My ND told me to take something, but it has been discontinued so I have a call into her for another suggestion.

I will check it out - thank you! Do you think it makes a difference? Does it help with fatigue or sleeping better?

It helps with fatigue some.

She called back and told me to take Goto Kola. Anyone have experience with this herb?

I'm hesitant to try the isocort. My cortisol levels haven't been tested yet. I think we are doing that in a month if I don't feel any better with my vitamin/mineral supplements and the Goto Kola.

Is exercise ok when you have reactivated EBV and Adrenal Fatigue? My ND said only yoga or walking, but I'm a runner and need to get back to running about 2 miles a day.

I have both...EBV and adrenal fatigue. They are secondary problems to my Lyme disease. My EBV numbers are so high the lab results come back saying "high"...with no numbers! :o I take Valtrex and Olive Leaf Extract for it. My Dr isn't too concerned about the EBV because like I said, they are secondary to my Lyme.

Adrenal fatigue...I'm not taking anything for it right now. Other than immune boosters and a product called "NT Factor Energy" which I don't think specifically helps AF, but it does help with the energy problems.

OMGosh Kassandra. You and I have so many similar problems. Is your DHEA level high? She didn't test all my hormones yet, but that is coming soon if I don't feel better in a month or so. She said my Epstein-barr virus numbers were really high. I had some really bad symptoms in May - terrible leg aches, headaches, waking up feeling hungover, horrible fatigue, etc. At this point the only thing that remains is the fatigue and lack of energy.

I get the results Monday morning of all my vitamin/mineral levels so I'll know if my D and serum ferritin are rising. I'm hopeful since I am feeling a little better.

Is NT factor energy available OTC?

Welcome to the forum, @Ben98! If you have been consciously or unconsciously avoiding gluten because of the discomfort it produces then it is likely that your blood antibody testing for celiac disease has been rendered invalid. Valid testing requires regular consumption of generous amounts of gluten. The other strong possibility is that you have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) which shares many of the same symptoms with celiac disease but does not have the autoimmune component and thus does not damage the small bowel lining. It is 10x mor common than celiac disease. There is currently no test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out. Some experts in the field believe it can be a precursor to the development of celiac disease. Having one or both of the primary genes for developing celiac disease does not imply that you will develop active celiac disease. It simply establishes the potential for it. About 40% of the population has the genetic potential but only about 1% develop active celiac disease.

TTG blood test and total IGA tested on many occasions which have always remained normal, upper GI pain under my ribs since 2022. I had an endoscopy in 2023 which showed moderate gastritis. no biopsy’s were taken unfortunately. genetic test was positive for HLADQ2. extreme bloating after eating gluten, it’ll feel like I’ve got bricks in my stomach so uncomfortably full. the pain is like a dull ache under the upper left almost like a stitch feeling after a long walk. I am just wanting some advice has anyone here experienced gastritis with a gluten issue before? thank you

"Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶
