So, I'm 1/4 Croatian, so I eat a lot of this stuff at family gatherings. Here are some of my favorite recipes that I've found online and tried:

Mushroom and Buckwheat Soup (Vegetarian)

5 oz. fresh mushrooms, sliced

2 oz. buckwheat

4 Tablespoons oil (I prefer olive oil)

1.5 oz. onions, saut

I have a Croatian friend and she brought me some of the mushroom and buckwheat soup last winter. It was great!

Thanks for the recipe. She also does a fish soup that is to die for!

The bean stew is my favorite, personally.

The first time I made it, I ate like three portions.

A side note, the bean stew is amazing to begin with, but it's even better reheated the next day.

I also like to buy the sausages from either Central Market or Whole Foods because the ingredients are usually listed under the name (at least at the stores I use).

How do I open up the recipes to see them? I'm new to this site and am signed in but there doesn't seem to be a way for me to view the recipes.

this is an old thread, but it appears that the mushroom & buckwheat soup is the only recipe on here.

Thiamine interacts with all the other B vitamins.  Thiamine and B 6 make a very important enzyme together. With more thiamine and other vitamins available from the supplements your body is absorbing the ones you need more of.  The body can control which vitamins to absorb or not.  You're absorbing more and it's being transported through the blood.   It's common to have both a Thiamine and a Pyridoxine deficiency.  Keep taking the B Complex. This is why it's best to stop taking supplements for six to eight weeks before testing vitamin levels.

Yes I took a supplement that had B6 in it, low dosage though. I've stopped taking that. B1 doesn't affect other B vitamin levels?

Have you tried lip balm made from tallow?  It's been used for thousands of years and works better than those with waxes. I prefer Vintage Traditions brand tallow balm products.

Are you taking a B 6 supplement or a supplement containing B 6 like a B Complex?  Do you have pins and needles in your toes?   Don't worry about the thiamine being high.  The blood is a transport system that carries thiamine to the cells so they can store it.  It's fine.

Quick question, had some blood tests done again and once again my zinc was too low but now ofcourse my B1 was too high and so was my B6. The doc said to  immediately  stop all supplements that contain B6. Can using thiamine raise the levels of B6 too?
