Cottage Cheese?

 Hope this isn't a dumb question, but I can't seem to find any info on whether cottage cheese contains gluten. I've switched to a lowfat organic variety made by a local company because it contains fewer chemicals than the national brands, but I'm still not sure. If regular cottage cheese does contain gluten, could someone tell me the suspect ingredients?

Thanks!

;)

Here are some gluten-free cottage cheese brands that are gluten-free:

Breakstone Cottage Cheese, regular only

Cabot's (the modified food starch is corn)

Darigold Cottage Cheese

This is all I could find from my list, I hope it helps :)

I don't eat Cottage cheese and have no idea what ingredients are suspicious except for "modified food starch". ;)

Thanks for that...unfortunately, none of those brands are available where I live. :( We have Viva, Meadow Gold, Horizon (the organic kind I'm currently eating) and store brands. I contacted Horizon to ask about this and got no reply. Hmmmm....

I am sorry to hear that :( I looked on my list for those brands you mentioned and they were not there, sorry!

Maybe someone else will come along that eats it and knows of another brand that may be available in your area. :)

Since we are on this topic... anyone know if Light n' Livey cottage cheese is gluten free? It's my favorite and I can't seem to find out.

Thanks!

i dont know where any of you are from--i am in michigan and here i know that prairie farms cottage cheese, michigan cottage cheese, country fresh cottage cheese and kroger brand are all gluten-free--i have eaten them all and they are fine, the one item that upsets me is columbo yogurt--i love it and i cant find it anywhere except in the vending machine in our local hospital--i hate yogurt, but i do like this one brand--usually the only ingredient in cottage cheese that could be a problem is modified food starch and the brands i mentioned have corn starch in them--hope this helps a little--deb :D

Erica, Light'n Lively is a Kraft product and Kraft has an allergen disclosure policy. Any ingredient it uses that is made from a known allergen will be listed after the ingredient in paranthesis. So, I checked my carton and it is gluten-free. :)

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
