Eating In Obx, Nc

Just wanted to let anyone that vacations there or is on their way, that the Pearl in Kill Devil Hills, will be more than happy to accommodate your diet.

We were at a wedding reception there this past weekend and they had no problem making my meal "special". My wonderful husband, with out me knowing, went in to speak with them the morning of the reception. They told him to come back once we arrived and to let them know where I will be seated. We did that and they prepared my food, fish, rice and asparagus on a totally separate, clean part of their grill. It was delicious. I was so happy to be served at the same time as everyone else, without having to worry. PHEW! I felt great!

I thanked the chef/owners wife and she told me that she has a regular that comes in that is highly allergic to black pepper. She will call ahead and let them know that she is coming and they will clean the grill and make sure she is not CC. She also told me that I (we :) "Should be able to go into any restaurant and not have a problem - if they care about their food and the customers, they should be able to accommodate." I agreed, but ya'know.........

Well, if any of you travel to the Outer Banks, please try to stop in. The food is great, but the people are even better.

Amanda :)

Totally satisfied customer. :):):)

Great to know!! Two questions:

You went to a reception there? Was it dressy or like a casual beach reception?

Is it on the beach rd or the main rd?

HeyItsA Apprentice

Yes, we went to a reception there and it was dressy casual (?) I wore black pants, black button down shirt and heels, some of the guys had on suits and others were in khakis and button downs. If you were to just go for dinner, I would say business casual and you wouldnt have to worry.

It is on Virginia Dare Rd - right on the ocean. It is actually in the Sea Ranch Hotel.

Hope you get to try it.

Thanks ;)

We have family there and grew up going to OBX. I'll keep that in mind for our next trip.

Thanks, I do include chia seeds and ground flax seed in my diet to help as well but on days that I'm not close to my target of 30 grams of fiber, I would add the Benefiber. My IBS-C was much better with both natural foods and the supplement so I will continue to search for another natural supplement that is not based on wheat to have when needed. Thanks

Welcome @Trish G to the forum. Hard or lumpy stools and infrequent bowel movements.  My brother likes Phillips Stool Softener, Ducolate Sodium.   Just a question. Was the benefiber helping?

I think you may be correct. The way the results are printed makes it appear as though it’s the ttg iga but I think you’re right—the 646 is total iga. So this would be indicative of another issue (another autoimmune condition, infection, cancer, etc.) and my doctor would need to do further testing. Thank you for saying this!

Are you sure that is the TTG IgA? Based on the units (mg/dL) and having an upper limit to the normal range, it looks like a total IgA result.

I am wondering if there are any vegetarians or vegans on this forum. I’ve been vegan for 15+ years and am just finding out I likely have celiac disease (blood panel done, need biopsy). My favorite foods—outside of vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds—I will likely have to give up. Anyone else?
