Does Anyone Have Any Suggestions?

I went to the doctor today for strep (fun, fun, fun <_< ) and I had them check my iron levels since I seem to be bruising so easily. However they said they were fine, actually better then usual. The strange thing was the night before I nicked myself and blead profusely. I'm not really sure what's up and if anyone had any suggestions, they would very appreciated. m=^^=m

Bruising can be caused by other vitamin deficiencies like C. Do you take a multivitamin? If not, you might try one and see if the bruising gets better.

Vitamin K deficiency can cause both bruising and excessive blood loss. Vitamin K is needed to make your blood "clot".

Vitamin C has been shown to "thin" the blood, so dont go overboard on that one.

Check blood clotting factors?

DingoGirl Enthusiast

Yeah, this sounds like a clotting issue, and vitamin K IS the requirement for that....have you had that checked?

And - when they checked your blood levels, did they check ferritin (stored iron)? I had a huge bruise for nearly an entire year before I was diagnosed with celiac.....my ferritin level was less than 3 (normal is about 75 to 150 for a woman my size/age).

Might better start with basic blood tests like platelet count. Has that been checked?

Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
