Hi all - first of all - thanks to everyone for helping me with my 1st post - it really helped!

I posted this "somewhere"??? I'm not sure what happened - LOL - but this article may be floating around elsewhere on the site....!

I found this article among others by the same author - he happens to live and teach in my city which was kind of cool to find. He has some really great articles.

My son has ADD/Inattentive type and I believe this man has authored an article along those lines - Celiac and ADD - will check to see.

Anyway, I can arm myself with his article on being overweight and having Celiac should my doctor balk at me about it.

When I first went gluten-free, I dropped about 30#'s and was very happy. I since gained that weight back plus an additional 15#'s. I have really struggled with my weight and wonder if others who are overweight and gluten-free also struggle. I have been determined to lose weight. I have my step son's wedding in Dec in the Bahamas and want to at least NOT be confused for a beached whale at the wedding. I have lost about 20#'s but it is a real struggle. I almost completely stopped eating processed gluten-free foods and have really tried to eat 3 meals and 3 snacks. I am also diebetic so need to stick to that diet too. I would like to lose at least 10#'s more by December.... The fat cells are still there so I think that losing weight is really difficult..... any others out there like this?????

Have you ever had your thyroid (TSH level) checked? Hypothyroidism often causes weight problems because it slows down your metabolism. <_< It's easy (just a blood test) and pretty inexpensive.

That was a very interesting article! Thanks for posting it !!

P.S. I also second the Thyroid testing; It's well worth it!! My thyroid had always been on the higher end of "normal" - but eventually came to find out that was only because my thyroid was not completely destroyed yet from the Hashimotos Thyroiditis (autoimmune thyroid condition.)

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
