Dh Gluten Insensitivity?

I have a 2.5 year old girl who was diagnosed (blood, biopsy, diet works) almost a year ago. My DH and I were tested (blood) at the time and both negative, didn't proceed any further with that.

At the time I was convinced that of the two of us, he would have Celiac.

He has a long history of weird GI symptoms, literally can have diarrhea minutes after eating and has several BM's per day and often says he didn't 'go enough.'

I have been concentrating so much on the diet for my daughter and focused all my 'research' on her but now I'm wondering if something is up with him but if his antibodies were fine what do we do next??

Does this sound like insensitivity?

Any help appreciated

Claire

You could be describing us! My husband started taking DDS probiotics last fall and it has made a HUGE difference! He's been through lots of doctors and tests to no avail. In fact, when our son was diagnosed he was tested twice (and we requested 2 different labs for the test!) and then he went on a completely gluten-free diet for a month. Then we decided he just might not have Celiac! <_<

The probiotics have really helped. Since finding out what was wrong with our son and hanging out here I'm convinced that there is almost always a cause for intestinal issues (stress being one of them). I just don't buy it anymore that "that's just the way it is" as he's been told so many times after being labeled with IBS.

They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

@JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
