Was In Car Wreck

Roda Rising Star

Unfortunately I was involved in a mva this evening. The other car ran a red light and hit me broad side. I ended up going to the hospital just to make sure everything was ok. The left side of my neck hurt and was swelling. I went because I have experienced people who, after a car accident, are walking around with a fracture in their neck. Anyway, nothing is broke but I sure am sore and stiff. I probably will be worse tommorow. The ER doc gave me a precription for lortab 5's prn for pain. My insurance will fill this with a generic. When I went to the pharmacy I asked if it was gluten free and if they could tell me the what the non active ingredients were. The told me it had starch. Are meds the same as food that they have to declare the source if it is wheat? The clerk could not uderstand what gluten was. He was trying to list me as having some allergy in a drug class. I told him I don't have any drug allergies and that gluten was a storage protein found in bla bla bla. <_< Anyway, someone else came to his rescue and then I just blurted out I have celiac disease. I just told them to fill it and I would ask later. I just found out that the generic manufacturer is watson pharma.

Just looked on their website and does not state anything, just starch as an inactive ingredient. I tried the customer support and of course at 10:30 pm est. there is no answer. I will try to call them in the morning. If I get painful enough tonight, I think I will just take my chances.

I'm so sorry about the accident and very glad you weren't seriously injured. The only way to know for sure if your med is gluten-free is to call the company and ask--unless someone here has experience with it.

Hope the pain doesn't get too bad and you're able to get some sleep tonight. :)

Unfortunately, no. It makes no sense to anybody except the manufacturers trying to save a buck, but that's the way it is, at least for now.

Hope you are feeling better this morning.

I had similar issues when I decided to go gluten free and inquired about the inactive ingredients in my birth control pill. The pharmacist and I leaned in together to squint at the tiny writing to try to locate them and ended up finding nothing. I decided that since I have no symptoms when I'm gluten free (to my knowledge) and I take this pill every day, that by process of elimination they must not have any gluten in them. I would feel more comfortable knowing, but I haven't gotten around to calling the manufacturer.

Well I did not ever find out if the generic lortab was gluten free. I got desparate for sleep and took one that same night. I took another one before bed thursday night and neither time did not seem to have any issues out of them. Mostly I have been sticking to ibuprofen. Thanks for the info.

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
