Uncle Julio's Mexican Food?

TONIGHT I am invited to a family gathering at Uncle Julio's in Allen, Texas. I ate there the week before I was diagnosed, but I don't want to go if they have nothing for me. Has anyone eaten there or talked to a manager? <_< I'm not picky -- anything would do!

I haven't eaten there since well before going gluten free (and only ever at the Dallas Pkwy location) but I've eaten Mexican food out since and been ok. Chicken nachos is what I get at Cristina's.

I think I'd be calling them and chatting with a manager if I were you......

Good luck and have fun!

We eat Mexican a lot. Chips can be a concern if they are fried along with wheat tortillas for a taco salad, or other wheat containing items. Sauces can contain wheat. Daughter often just gets beans, rice and corn tortillas.

This is a letter I received in December from their Corporate Office:

Thank you for inquiring about gluten in our foods. Our Chef suggests choosing fajitas (chicken or beef) with NO marinade, please request it this way. The fajita marinade contains soy. You should also substitute flour tortillas with corn tortillas. Our chips do not contain gluten, but are fried in the same oil as other foods containing flour, such as chili rellenos. You may also consider fresh vegetables and fruit from our menu.

On a personal note, do not go when they are busy and call ahead. You reduce the concern of cross contamination that way. I was glutened during my visit, but had gone while they were very busy. Just about any restuarant will try to accomidate if they know ahead of time and you do not go while they are really busy. Let's just say Friday night at 7:30 is not a good time to go.

"Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.
