so last night at work i took a bite of my pecan larabar. i eat a larabar at least once a day so i definately know what they taste like and this one tasted DISGUSTING...nothing like what they normally taste like...almost like there was nail polish remover in it. i threw it out. then today, i brought another larabar to school....took a bite and it tasted the same as the one from last night!! gross! i couldnt figure out what could possibly be causing it but i just thought of something....could the dates in the bar somehow have started to ferment? and thats why it tasted so bad? anyone know anything about fermenting fruits? any info or ideas are appriciated.

I don't really know about dates fermenting, they are generally very long lasting. But don't throw that packaging away. Call their customer service line. They will refund or coupon you but the main thing is there are a lot of that bad lot of bars out there. The company will not know this unless customers like you tell them. They can pull them off the shelf and someone else won't have your bad experience.

a few months ago i decided to try Larabars because so many people on this board had raved about how great they are. i tried a few different flavors and couldn't find one i liked. i got an alcohol-ish taste with each bite that made my stomach turn. i figured it was just my taste buds but maybe i got a couple of bad bars?

just my two cents...

Can someone fill me in on these Larabars. I really would like to try them but have not been able to locate any information about them. I also suffer with diverticulitis, therefore I cannot have any nuts in the mix.

Thanks

Maybe the dates were moldy <_<

Good suggestion to contact the company! I can't eat Lara bars these days (I'm pretty sure all the bars have nuts)... but I've never had one that tasted like nail polish remover. Bleh.

yeah i definately plan on contacting the company.

lee-lee, you must have gotten a few bad bars too because normally they dont taste alcoholy at all.

wenmin, unfortunatly most have nuts in them or say "may contain occassional nut shells" ...you can order them for a good price at drugstore.com but i would avoid them if you cant have nuts.

All Larabar varieties contain nuts. Here is a link to their website. Open Original Shared Link

Many years ago yes, after eating and going to bed, apparently my esophagus filled with food that my body rejected, the esophagus would lay against the Heart sack (pericardium?) and the heart would respond by becoming arrhythmic. That went away with the strict diet.

I was commenting on the report saying it did not mention migraines! Yes it does last paragraph says have not seen any evidence that Celiac cause migraines! I thought this was about truth?

It has been known for some years that celiacs suffer from migraines at a higher rate than the general populatation. It is an established symptom.
