Hotel Free Breakfast

I've noticed that usually if a hotel offers a free breakfast it is heavy on gluten things with pastries and cereal. I usually bring my own instant grits (I know some people have had trouble with the Quaker grits but I haven't yet) and then eat fruit or sealed items with a label like yogurt. I tend to get up early so that helps with cross contamination for buffet items.

I was just curious if anyone had a chain they preferred from a breakfast persepective.

Hi Tim

I have eaten at hotel breakfast many times. You are right lots of wheat things. I usually take my toasta bag with me & make an eng muffin, bagel or toast. They usually have jelly, apple butter or philly cream cheese that are single serve & wrapped securely. I also have juice, bacon or sausage, scrambled egg after I check to make sure they are okay. Fresh fruit... I have found many of these hotel breakfast has Dannon yougurt so I don't eat that as the only Dannon that is gluten-free is the plain. If it is yoplait I eat it.

The original pancake house has a gluten-free menu.... here in western pa we have Eat-N- Park resturants that also have a good gluten-free menu....& many home-style places have omlets that are safe after some explaining to the cook......

We just stayed at a hotel this weekend that had a breakfast. I took my own cereal cup with me and got milk, juice, coofee, banana from there. I also had a scoop of eggs and a sausage pattie and did not have any problems. The only problem was smelling the others baking belgian waffles (lol)

Thanks that does help - coping tips are always welcome - but not exactly what I was looking for. If you were chosing a hotel solely based on their free breakfast, is there a chain you'd recommend? I suspect that this is a feature that actually varies by location. Still, with vacation planning starting, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Note: I won't select a hotel solely on that basis but I can find location/price/reviews elsewhere.

Hey Tim - I have had good luck with the Marriott hotels - particularly Courtyard Marriott. I travel to the same location in FL once per quarter for work and explained the gluten issue to the folks there the first time. Every time I've been there since they've remembered me and gone out of their way to help me. I typically bring my own bagel or muffin which they heat up for me and add some of their fruit. I'm sure this varies on a hotel-by-hotel basis but this is at least a place to start.

Safe travels! :)

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
