Weight Watchers "truth About Carbs"

I've found a couple of Weight Watchers entrees that are gluten-free, creamy parmesan chicken and another--I think it's homestyle chicken with green beans. Always nice to find mainstream gluten-free products.

Where are they? I the frozen food section? I could really use these whenI work late and need to bring my dinner.

Banquet TV Dinners are an option. I called ConAgra and was told that all Non-gluten containing meals are fixed first, on clean machinery. If it has wheat or gluten in it, it will be listed in bold letters on the label.

According to the conAgra policy on gluten they only list wheat ingredients.

Here is a quote from their website hope that helps you:

What is gluten?

Gluten is a mixture of plant proteins that occurr in grain. A small percentage of the population have an intolerance or allergy to foods containing these proteins.

Which of your products contain gluten?

We are sorry to inform you that we do not have a source that lists the gluten content of our products. However, our product labels list common allergens; such as wheat, for those allergic to wheat gluten.

They are in the frozen food section, in a red box, and they clearly state allergens. The creamy parmesan lists milk and--something else, but not a gluten.

What company makes those? Does their policy only list top 8 allergens?? Most do. Not picking on you, just trying to find out because I couldn't find the "Maker" online after I read your post.

Oh, don't worry about picking on me, I understand the concern. And I can't find a link to them on a website, either. (I've got some at home in my freezer, but at present I'm at work.)

I can tell you that I have eaten the creamy parmesan chicken several times and have had no problems.

Just rifled through the workplace freezer (people tend to keep tons of frozen dinners in there) and found out that they're distributed by Heinz, they list a phone number of 800-762-0228 if you have questions. :D

Hummmmmmmmmmm those weren't listed on the Heinz list that I got recently. Guess I'll have to make a call to double check. Maybe they just missed them on the list OR they aren't safe. Thanks for the number.

I called Heinz, they said they are NOT gluten free and they would not guarantee that they were gluten free. They may possibly not add gluten containing ingredients, however they could have cross contamination. If they were gluten free they would be on their list. Sorry!!!!

Hope that helps you though.

You don't have to have a reaction in order for it to contain gluten....of what Jessica has said with calling the company and all it looks like you were glutened :( but at least now you know so thats a good thing :D

Not to beat a dead horse, but I read over the ingredients list again, and every "food starch" is a safe one (tapioca, corn). It does list CORN gluten as an ingredient, so it's possible that the person answering the phone didn't realize that corn gluten was not on the watch list. Also, each of these dinners lists the common allergens in bold at the end of the ingredient list. Most of them say WHEAT, but the creamy parmesan chicken just lists MILK and SOY. Soy itself is not the problem, but soy sauce with wheat, correct?

Do you have all the ingredients there? Some companies will list common allergens such as wheat,milk, soy , etc but they will not put rye, barley, oats...so it is possible that maybe one of the other ingredients were in the product.

Most likely though if a company says they can't guarantee anything then it is risky because you don't know ..it could contain gluten.

You could always call and see if they give you another answer but I think it's just not safe

Like I said before in my previous post (see above quote). When I called they said that gluten ingredients may not be added to the product (no gluten in the actual ingredient list) HOWEVER it may be contaminated due to processing on the same lines, in the same area etc. Therefore would not be, in their standards, gluten free. They are not willing to put it on their gluten free list.

If a reputable company such as Heinz is not willing to say gluten-free then I am not going to eat it. I would trust the company on this one, they know what goes on in their facilities. Things may not be cleaned between batches of this stuff. I'm going to pass on it.

Just wanted to clear up the contamination issue though. It must have been missed in my last post.

You are so right. If a company with a gluten free list is not willing to put that product on their gluten free list it has too be very risky.

This stuff is not gluten-free. I saw it in the store, read the ing, figured I'd give it a try. talking about the Smart Ones Weight watchers frozen entrees.

Brain Fog is soooooo obad right now.

DO NOT EAT THESE DINNERS!

If you have been consciously or unconsciously avoiding gluten because of the discomfort it produces then it is likely that your blood antibody testing for celiac disease has been rendered invalid. Valid testing requires regular consumption of generous amounts of gluten. The other strong possibility is that you have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) which shares many of the same symptoms with celiac disease but does not have the autoimmune component and thus does not damage the small bowel lining. It is 10x mor common than celiac disease. There is currently no test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out. Some experts in the field believe it can be a precursor to the development of celiac disease. Having one or both of the primary genes for developing celiac disease does not imply that you will develop active celiac disease. It simply establishes the potential for it. About 40% of the population has the genetic potential but only about 1% develop active celiac disease.

      TTG blood test and total IGA tested on many occasions which have always remained normal, upper GI pain under my ribs since 2022. I had an endoscopy in 2023 which showed moderate gastritis. no biopsy’s were taken unfortunately. genetic test was positive for HLADQ2. extreme bloating after eating gluten, it’ll feel like I’ve got bricks in my stomach so uncomfortably full. the pain is like a dull ache under the upper left almost like a stitch feeling after a long walk. I am just wanting some advice has anyone here experienced gastritis with a gluten issue before? thank you

Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶
