Soy- For Those Who Cant Tolerate

So I stay away from soy as much as possible. Not only because it causes me digestive problems, mostly bloating and gas, but also because the whole "soy is healthy" thing really angers me. Don't get me wrong, I am a person who used to drink soymilk everyday! - if only I knew I was killing myself! and then add in the whole thing with companies like Monsanto...yeah, I'm not even going to get started...

but my question is:

for those of you who cant tolerate soy or can only tolerate small amounts, is soybean oil just as bad as say soy licithin (sorry spelling) or soy protien for you? I'm not talking using it for frying, but just the amount that is found in almost everything it seems, like mayo, dressings, etc...

I've been buying wegmans tuna that is packed in nothing but water b/c all other tuna's are packed in vegatable broth AKA SOY- GGRR! well, a friend gave me some canned foods last week and in it was tuna-the stuff with nasty veggy broth. I thought, ok, well, I'll try it....OMG all I tasted when I ate it was soy!!!! so gross!!!!! and then my stomach blew up like a balloon and I woke up the next day with a puffy face and water retention. NOt to mention I was naucous the whole day I ate it :( its like PMS. everytime I have soy!!! I noticed that hellmans mayo is bothering me to....I normally dont eat this stuff, but on occasion when I make something for family, like today I made noodle salad to bring to my mom's tomarrow. I tried a little while making it and I feel like a soy reaction is coming on again, the only soy in it is the soybean oil in the mayo :(

do they sell mayo w/o soy??? I dont even buy mayo for myself unless I'm cooking for others....I'm on a whole food siet for the most part...

sorry...I'm rambling on....and on....I'm just frustrated with this world and its food that is all artificial, GMO.... and we are cultivating and harvesting grains and things we werent even designed to digest!!!!! UGH!!!!!! and its so hard to get away from it. you think you are doing something healthy by eating lotss of fruits and veggies, only to find out they are GMO or sprayed with crap, coated in whatever, and soaking up unnatural subtances from the environment they grow in thanks to everything being polluted. I wonder if anything is truly organic anymore? even if it says "organic"....

ok I'm done...I sware :)

I know. Soy and corn the worst! I think Spectrum makes a soy-free mayo (I think it's one of the Canolas). The only other ones I've seen are only available during passover.

After going to an allergist I found out I was allergic to corn, soy, and tomatoes. I've always hated soy. And corn. I've read things saying it's not good for anyone. And those corn syrup commercials saying it's not bad,...YES IT IS. Actual sugar is sooo much better for everyone. The problem is it's so cheap they use it instead. Then try to say it's not unhealthy and it comes from corn. That's bull because it's so processed it's barely even corn anymore.

Basically I also hate corn and soy.

I also have issues with soy. It seems that is in as much stuff as gluten is and it does make it hard. Hellmans has recently come out with a canola based mayo that isn't too bad.

For me the oil is a bad as the flour but I do seem to tolerate the lecithin without too much of an issue. Wegmans does have a soy free tuna, it is in a blue can with a label that reads 'Light Yellowfin Tuna in water' Low sodium no HVP, I also found Natural Sea tuna at my local health food store that is also just tuna and water and in addition Starkist makes a soy free tuna, although I can't always find it, that is just tuna and water also.

I can't do soybean oil either, it doesn't seem to affect me as much, but it still makes me feel kind of yuck... I've had to give up Chipotle because of it.

I seem to tolerate the lecithin pretty well, too. Seems like I remember even reading something about why people can tolerate soy lecithin when they cannot tolerate soy products, but I can't remember where or why. I'll have to see if I can find it one of these days.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
