Looking For A Store Carrying Pamela's Wheat Free Bread Mix

Hello :D

has anyone from north carolina seen the pamelas bread mix on the shelves anywhere. i have looked it up online but either the health food store doesn't have a product list or its not on the website.

The Whole Foods chain carries those here in Virginia. There is one in Cary and one in Raleigh so you could check there.

thanks! the website doesn't have their product list right now so i have no idea whats there!

i've heard good things about pamela's bread mix and since my three last attempts to bake bread from scratch failed miserably we'll see if i can get this to work

.... The Lowes Foods Grocery Store in Charlotte, NC sells Pamela's products.

I found it and will be attempting it later this week sometime. my sister is in town and we're going to visit a beach = picnic sandwhich lunch because greasy fastfood is a no go :lol:

we are also going to visit charlotte because we haven't seen it yet. i hear it is a beautiful town. i am originally from Oklahoma and you would not beleive how much more stuff is available here compared to there.

There is a restaurant in downtown Raleigh that cooks only gluten-free food. I went to an open house there one of the last times I was visitng there. The food was fantastic, actually it is a take out place where you call ahead and they prepare the foods for you to take home with you. It is very gourmet and can be expensive, but it sure is worth checking out. If there is a Trader Joe's in town, you can check it too. I know the Whole Foods is very nice in Raleigh. My son/family live in Raleigh and my granddaughter has celiac disease. She is nearly 11 and has had it since she was 1. There are other restaurants in Raleigh that cater to celiacs, you need to do your homework and find them. Barbara

I'm in Raleigh and have bought Pamela's from Kroger (their natural food section), it is also available at Whole Foods.

I just wanted to tell evertone that I baked the roll variation of the wheat free bread mix. it was AWESOME!!! I called my older sister back home and told her that she needed to talk to the grocery store there and request they order it. Back in oklahoma.

It rose! it tasted wonderful and it didn't have any weird texture or aftertaste :D

I make a loaf of the Pamela's most weekends. Knowing I will use it regularly, the cheapest way to get it is the Amazon subscription. I've signed up for one shipment every two months which works out for the occasional weeks I don't make the bread. The subscription rate for the box of six packages gets the individual package to $3.76 and I've seen in in stores for over $5.

      Wheatwacked, are you speaking of the use of potassium bromide and and azodicarbonamide as dough modifiers being controlling factor for what? Do you refer to celiac reactions to gluten or thyroid disease, kidney disease, GI cancers?

Studies have linked potassium bromide to kidney, thyroid, and gastrointestinal cancers. A ban on it in goes into effect in California in 2027.       Celiac support is hard to find

      same! how amazing you have a friend who has celiac disease. i find myself wishing i had someone to talk about it with other than my partner (who has been so supportive regardless)

      need help understanding testing result for Naked Nutrition Creatine please

      They don’t give a sample size (serving size is different from sample size) so it is hard to tell just what the result means. However, the way the result is presented does look like it is below the limit of what their test can measure, so that is good.

      Excess iodine supplements can cause significant health issues, primarily disrupting thyroid function. My daughter has issues with even small amounts of dietary iodine. While iodine is essential for thyroid hormone production, consistently consuming amounts far above the tolerable upper limit (1,100 mcg/day for adults) from high-dose supplements can trigger both hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, worsen autoimmune thyroid diseases like Hashimoto's, and lead to goiter. Other side effects include gastrointestinal distress. The risk is highest for individuals with pre-existing thyroid conditions, and while dietary iodine rarely reaches toxic levels, unsupervised high-dose supplementation is dangerous and should only be undertaken with medical guidance to avoid serious complications. It's best to check with your doctor before supplementing iodine.

I suspect this, more than a specific strain of wheat to be controlling factor.  Sourdough natural fermentation conditions the dough without chemicals. Iodine was used in the US as a dough modifier until the 1970s. Since then iodine intake in the US dropped 50%.  Iodine is essential for thyroid hormones.  Thyroid hormone use for hypothyroidism has doubled in the United States from 1997 to 2016.   Clinical Thyroidology® for the Public In the UK, incidently, prescriptions for the thyroid hormone levothyroxine have increased by more than 12 million in a decade.  The Royal Pharmaceutical Society's official journal Standard thyroid tests will not show insufficient iodine intake.  Iodine 24 Hour Urine Test measures iodine excretion over a full day to evaluate iodine status and thyroid health. 75 year old male.  I tried adding seaweed into my diet and did get improvement in healing, muscle tone, skin; but in was not enough and I could not sustain it in my diet at the level intake I needed.  So I supplement 600 mcg Liquid Iodine (RDA 150 to 1000 mcg) per day.  It has turbocharged my recovery from 63 years of undiagnosed celiac disease.  Improvement in healing a non-healing sebaceous cyst. brain fog, vision, hair, skin, nails. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis celiac disease experience exacerbation of the rash with iodine. The Wolff-Chaikoff Effect Crying Wolf?
