Sensodyne

I had not had any sinus infections in about three years, (diagnosed about 3 yrs. ago with Celiac) but this winter I've had 4. (#5 is brewing right now) I had some periodontist surgery & it was recommended I switch to Sensodyne tooth paste. I did this about four or five months ago. On & off the inside of my mouth has been shredding, long strands of skin keep pealing off my checks. I kept wondering if it could be that Sensodyne has gluten, but I never remembered to check, until today. Yes, it has gluten, yes, it is the cause of my mouth shredding, but is it the cause of the sinus infections? Also, why am I not having my typical Celiac reaction to the gluten, abdominal pain and the frequent bathroom visits? I so want to find out I'm not really Celiac, does this cause a question on my diagnosis or confirm it? Anyone else often feel like maybe it's all a mistake & maybe you have a lesser allergy, like just to wheat?

You may have healed enough so that the amount of gluten is not quite enough to give you GI issues. In addition not all celiacs even have gut issues, that is called silent celiac. I had skin and neuro issues for a very long time before gut stuff got bad enough to be an issue. I have been gluten-free now since 2002 and for the last couple years I need a good dose of it to give me D but small amounts will cause my hair to drop and cause the neuro issues, depression and ataxia to come back full force. IMHO if you were diagnosed firmly by either blood and or biopsy it was not a false diagnosis you have simply healed fully. I would not be surprised if your sinus issues resolve now that you have stopped the Sensodyne.

I have been using sensodyne but also just started the gluten free diet 2 weeks ago. Maybe this is the reason my chin itches around my mouth and inside of my mouth feels like it is swollen and aches sometimes. Just started using sensodyne regularly in Feb. guess I need to find another toothpaste. Hope you fingure out the issue. Having celiac is enough to deal with.

I know that but they make my sides hurt , believe me I think I have very poor absorbtion I take iron and it doesn't go up , vitamins and everything else the test results are the same from the last year

It's normal for the pee to turn yellow when taking large doses of B vitamins, particularly riboflavin (B2). That doesn't mean they are building up in the kidneys. It means the excess is being excreted. The B vitamins are water soluble.

Because since the vitamins are not absorbed due to the inflammation shown by high levels of tTg IGA levels,it will just cause buildup or the kidney will get tired .I already take vitamins and I could see them in my pee the next 4 minutes I don't feel like vitamins are well absorbed I took vitamin b 12 , magnesium and other things and my test results are normal but still not high considering I have been taking them now for almost 3 years .i think there is no point in taking them now since there is a high inflammation I should wait more until maybe I could start to absorb something I already took IV infusion for iron because it by pass the gut due to the poor absorbtion already .

Welcome to the forum, @Kimmy88! Most toothpastes are actually gluten-free. Most meds are gluten free. There are lists available for most prescription meds to determine if they contain gluten as an intentional ingredient. Google. Remember, "gluten free" does not mean "contains no gluten" it just means it contains less than a certain parts per million of gluten, in the USA that's < than 20 ppm for food items. For meds it may not be the same standard. And for generic meds, you would need to contact manufacturers. Pharmacies can give you contact info. Trace amounts from cross contamination may not be an issue unless you are in the subset of super sensitive celiacs.
