Carrot Cake & Banana Bread Mix

So, I ran to Sam's Club to pick up some more bottled water and a few other basics. My boyfriend was with me and wanted to take a look around. So we went down the aisles I normally avoid (like baking/cereal/etc). Anyway, in the baking aisle he asks me why I had spent $7 on the banana bread mix at the food co-op that morning. I was confused why he was asking, obviously I wanted to try it. Anyway, after giving him a funny look, I realize he had picked up a box and set it in my cart. I was really confused, Sam's Club has never had gluten free baking items (yes, they are great at labeling their meats and other frozen foods). Anyway, the mix I had spent $7 dollars on was sitting in my cart.

I looked at the box. It was the same brand Simply Organic but instead of just having the banana bread, it also had their carrot cake mix. I looked over at the price, and was shocked. I honestly couldn't speak. It was $1.81 for the box. Two gluten free mixes for under $2. I was utterly speechless. And now I'm left wondering what other gluten free goodies I've missed at Sam's.

I haven't made either yet. I'll probably get to it next weekend. I still have a homemade cherry pie and brownies to eat up. And living alone, with only random visits from the boyfriend, this can take awhile. On top of that, he brought me four things of muffins from a little gluten-free bakery by his house.

So, to my quick questions, has anyone tried these mixes? Are they any good? For $1.81 for two, I'm not expecting amazing but who knows. Also, have you seen other gluten free goodies at Sam's? I know I buy a seasoned frozen Salmon there that is amazing and that most of their sausages and roasts are gluten free, but what else?

I guess most of all, I wanted to share this great find, so that others might have a chance to find them. I know Sam's is my holiday stop because their hams are labeled gluten free and even have a gluten free honey glaze with them.

I was also really shocked when I happened to find these mixes packaged together at Sam's Club. I've made both of them and they are really good texture and flavor wise..I just bought another box when I was there last time...Just think how great, you could actually use two of the carrot cakes and make a wonderful cream cheese frosted birthday cake...WOW, gluten-free is really getting better. I am so happy that I found these.

:( Sad, today I went back and the mixes are gone. And at the local grocery, the are $4.50 each. So sad. Made the banana bread but used strawberry-banana baby food, instead of mashed bananas. So good!

I bought one on Friday and although it was priced at $2.88, they rang it up at $1.81. If I hadn't been in a hurry, I would have gone back in and gotten a few more. I hope the mark-down doesn't mean they're discontinuing them so soon. At this price, you could have fun playing around with them!

Make sure to call/email/ask when they will have more in stock. If they know people are looking for it they will try to order more for you.

I was taking medicine for sibo but it was not agreeing with my stomach at all.Was on gabapentin but it amps me up.I was taking in morning because it wasn't allowing me to sleep. This has always been an issue with medicine and me.Even going to dentist, the good shot that numbs you once, I can't take because it makes my heart beat fast and I  get the shakes.I have to take the crappy stuff and get injected always more than 4 times always. Its infuriating

If you successfully digest gluten with enzyme supplements so it won’t give you side effects, your challenge won’t be worthwhile because the digested fragments of gluten also won’t stimulate antibody production or cause intestinal damage.

You can search this site for prescriptions medications, but will need to know the manufacturer/maker if there is more than one, especially if you use a generic version of the medication: To see the ingredients you will need to click on the correct version of the medication and maker in the results, then scroll down to "Ingredients and Appearance" and click it, and then look at "Inactive Ingredients," as any gluten ingredients would likely appear there, rather than in the Active Ingredients area. https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/
