There is a place called DB's Mongolian Grill, Everything Gluten Free is clearly labeled, and everyone there is very knowledgeable if you have any questions...and it was delicious!! They just opened near me in Minnesota, but they appear to be all over the top/east half of the US. Just so everyone knows, it was really good!!! Here's the website....

Do they use a separate cooking surface, or are all their ingredients gluten-free? That would be just great! I miss eating at the "mongolian grill" in our town. They clean their grill (common cooking surface) with only hot water, so it's not safe for us.

They offer to take your food in the back to cook it, and they even come show you that their utensils are clean. Not all ingredients are gluten free, but the ones that are gluten free are clearly labeled. The sauces that are gluten free are elevated above the other sauces so nothing an drip in or anything. It was great!

:D Excellent! I love it when restaurants are helpful and accomodating. I went to a xmas party @ Cheesecake Factory this weekend. The waitress flat out told me they didn't have anything gluten free when I asked what I could order--she seemed to think gluten-free as a "fad" diet.

Awesome! I see there's one that's not too far away from my house. I'll take a look at their menu! Thanks!

I hate when people act like that.... :( If I could eat gluten I would have at it like I always did before!!

I am so happy to hear that about the Mongolean Grill!!!! That's our favorite place to eat. I have to go over to UofM hospital in Ann Arbor about 4 times a year and we always stop there for lunch before we head home.

Thanks for the help. I'm new at this so I've been reading a lot about it lately.

Wanted to add my props for BD's Mongolian Grill as well. I was eating out with friends and they suggested this place. I was mortified, of course, because I'm hesitant to eat at any new place that I don't already know is safe. but they did the research and wrote down the gluten free items for me, etc., so I went with. I winced at the fact that the chicken on the food bar was right near the pasta, and I winced at the sauces being near each other and chose a gluten free one that sat at the top (thus the others wouldn't drip into it), I winced when they took my food back to the secret 'grill for people with allergies' since I couldn't watch them like a hawk...I winced at a lot of things...but at the end of the day, I didn't get sick from it. I thought the food was very very good and flavorful. I need to go back so I can enjoy it more. Each scrumptious bite I took, at the time, was laced with my secret fear that I'd be getting sick from it later. But now that I came out unharmed...I want to go back, lol.

So yey. Basically you just choose raw meat and raw veggies and they fry it for you separate. I avoided the spices and any meat that was already seasoned, and obviously chose a gluten free sauce. I also ventured to eat the white rice they brought out and didn't get sick.

One caution about BD's: the one near me keeps ALL their sauces on a bar in their labeled containers, and it's VERY easy for the the gluteny sauces to drip in the safe ones when people are ladling them out (a common problem at any buffet-style restaurant). I advised my server that this was kind of risky to have all the sauces next to each other and suggested that they put the gluten-free ones in a designated spot. She said it's because of space limitations that they have keep them all together on the bar. That was kinda odd to me, since they make such a big deal about being allergy conscious  ....but anyway, she said that I could always ask them to get my sauce separately from the kitchen so I didn't have to worry about "drippings". Just a word to the wise....

Good idea. I purposely chose a gluten free one that was resting at the top for the drippage reason. But next time I might just ask for it from the back to be safe.

FYI: Not everything is "clearly" labeled. Their crab meat is artificial and has gluten in it.

Hopefully you talked to the manager and did not let this just go.

Email them a complaint at least.

Is there a digestive enzyme that helps build a healthier gut? I see people taking them but not sure what really works

So the tTG-IGA at 28 is positive for celiac disease. There are some other medical conditions that can cause elevated tTG-IGA but this is unlikely. There are some people for whom the dairy protein casein can cause this but by far the most likely cause is celiac disease. Especially when your small bowel lining is "scalloped". Your Serum IGA 01 (aka, "total IGA") at 245 mg/dl is within normal range, indicating you are not IGA deficient. But I also think it would be wise to take your doctor's advice about the sucraid diet and avoiding dairy . . . at least until you experience healing and your gut has had a chance to heal, which can take around two years. After that, you can experiment with adding dairy back in and monitor symptoms. By the way, if you want the protein afforded by dairy but need to avoid casein, you can do so with whey protein powder. Whey is the other major protein in dairy.

hi, i want to say thank you to you and @trents   . after 2 phone calls to my GI, her office called me back to tell me that a blood test was “unnecessary” and that we should “follow the gold standard” and since my biopsy did not indicate celiac, to follow the no dairy and sucraid diet. i luckily have expendable income and made an appt for the labcorp blood test that day. i just got my results back and it indicates celiac disease i think 😭   im honestly happy bc now i KNOW and i can go gluten free. and i am SO MAD at this doctor for dismissing me for a simple blood test that wouldn’t have cost her anything !!!!!!!!!!! im sorry, im so emotional right now, i have been sick my whole life and never knew why, i feel so much better already   my results from labcorp:   Celiac Ab tTG TIgA w/Rflx Test Current Result and Flag Previous Result and Date Units Reference Interval t-Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA 01 28 High U/mL 0-3 Negative 0 - 3 Weak Positive 4 - 10 Positive >10 Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) has been identified as the endomysial antigen. Studies have demonstrated that endomysial IgA antibodies have over 99% specificity for gluten sensitive enteropathy. Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum 01 245 mg/dL 87-352

      Thank you this really helped.

Okay that is really good to know. So with that being positive and the other being high it makes sense she diagnosed her even without the endoscopy. So glad we caught it early. She had so many symptoms though that to me it was clear something was wrong.   yeah I think we had better test us and the other kids as well.
