Hi guys. I've been hunting and I can't find any info on the drug amlodipine, substitution for norvasc. Made by zydus. I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about this or if there is a similar med I could take that is safe.

I take it for high blood pressure.

Thanks a bunch!

I would advise contacting the company directly, here is their contact info.

Zydus US Corporate Office:

Is this the sort of info you need? The generic should have the same safety/side effect profile as Norvasc.

This is some info from NIH's PubMed Health site.

And from the manufacturer.

As far as safe substitutes, that's a question for the doctor who prescribed it to you. High blood pressure is common and most doctors are pretty good at treating it.

The name brand of Norvasc is gluten-free--I took it until my insurance company switched me to the generic. Oddly, I had an allergic reaction to the generic so I am no longer on it.

There are many other blood pressure drugs available--your doctor will be able to find the right one or combination for you. It's not a one-size fits all sort of thing.

Your response on this matter is what I expect. You’ve had a similar episode years ago, but this one is lasting longer!

I'd like to clarify: Is the pain you describe in the area just below your chest constant, or does it only appear when you start moving?
