Just Ate Gluten. Anything I Can Do Now?

I am traveling and went to a health food store cafe. they had gluten free wraps and rolls for the veggie burgers and quesadillas. I got home and ate it and began to realize that the tortilla was grilled and decided to call the place. The kid that answered said most likely the tortilla was grilled on same surface as the gluten breads!!!

i am so angry at myself and at them. every salad bar item is labeled gluten-free so I "assumed" they were in the know...

so is there anything I can take now or do for the onslaught of pain and D? I have a special powder that my functional medicine internist gave me called GI revive that has herbs and such that helps heal the gut. any other home remedies that anyone uses?

by the way, has anyone successfully sued an establishment like this that claims to be gluten free? I am on vacation and not near my docs so I am upset

thanks group

You may not even get any symptoms so try to stay calm. I know your angry and upset right now and that is justified I would be upset also. Hopefully you will be fine but drink lots of fluids and go ahead and take the GI Revive. If you don't have the Revive with you get some Pepto Bismal.

I don't have any advice...just hoping you don't get symptoms.

I don't know what to tell your for the GI issues, mine are the opposite of yours. For the pain, I take Tylenol and/or Tylenol PM. The benadryl in the Tylenol PM helps me sleep through the worst of it. Warn the people you live/work/travel with that you will be more irratable because of the pain. Get some sleep and force feed the hydration. The reality is that there is little you can do except avoid taking risks.

I hope someone will give you tips on the GI issues.

Thanks for sharing this! Have you started taking the Amneal? I'm curious how it's going for you. My pharmacy gave me the option of Accord, Macleod or Amneal. I didn't realize that Amneal was formerly Lannett, or I might have chosen that one. However, I did read some anecdotal reports that some people had side effects with Amneal, so I chose Accord. I have been taking it for 3-4 weeks and the past 10 days I have developed extreme fatigue/sluggishness, joint pain and some brain fog. I don't know if it is the new levo med, but nothing else has changed. Has anyone else taken Accord levo? Any issues? It seems to fall into the "no gluten ingredients, but we can't guarantee 100%, but it's likely safe category." I'm wondering if it is worth switching to Amneal or at least getting my thyroid levels checked. If the med is causing my symptoms, I'm guessing it's not because of gluten but maybe the potency is different from Mylan and I need different dosing. Accord was recalled for lower potency, but my pharmacist said the pills I have were not part of that lot.
