I seem to have diaper rash (or something like it) WAAAA!!! It sure doesn't tickle me elbow or make me tap my toes like I did to Monica.

Thanks for letting me vent!

That can happen when you go to the bathroom a lot. If your home, pop in the shower after going to rinse off. Or get some toliet paper wet and wash off. Maybe even some diaper cream to protect the skin?

Roda Rising Star

If chafing is the problem then petroleum jelly or a good diaper rash cream like desitin works wonders and protects the skin while it heals. If you have irritation from going to the bathroom a lot or from diarrhea then I have found (my child's pediatrician recommended this) that liquid antacid rubbed on the area will help neutralize the acid and clear it up. It really works because it worked for my youngest son and I used it during my colonoscopy prep. If either of those don't work make sure you don't have a yeast rash.

Balmer's diaper rash cream is amazing. (Yes, I used to get the same problem after bad bouts of D.) A panty liner set back a bit will keep it off your clothes.

I use California Baby Diaper rash cream (DF SF DF NF) (for eczema)...mild smell.

I have A & D balm. Is that gluten-free? Does it matter if it's GD for a rash. I swear I should have stocki n panty liners and Depends.

Does the liquid child one's dry? The liners are expensive (I'm unemployed and don't want to ruin my underwear). I actually had to buy size 9 when I'm a size 7 by weight because the others were too constricting with my bloating and abdominal pain. I know i haven't been drinking enough water because the I'm up all night going to the bathroom. I think I'm too acidic. Will drink a lot today as i don't have to get up too early tomorrow. Getting to meet someone I met here through the forum who lives in my state and I'm really excited.I've been pretty lonely. sad.gif

Having yet another test (biopsy and possibly more once depending on what he finds in there) in 3 weeks because my doctor discovered an ulcer when he read the capsule endoscopy. It usually takes 2-3 weeks for them to look at the results but he did it the next day. Wonder if it was because he thought I was a pill seeking nut job or if he finally believed me. What a change in his tone and demeanor. No longer dismissive. Might not have to change doctors. He has a very good reputation here. I can't imagine waiting another three weeks in excruciating pain buy t I am a tough cookie. Where i used to live there was an enormous hospital and my old GI would have already performed the test.

I was just filling out the paperwork for the test and some of it was pretty scary. Again, all I want to do is get well and stat teaching in some capacity. I'm afraid my unemployment will run out and though 's not much compared to what I earned as a teacher but it still covers food, co-pays and prescriptions. I think you can switch to disability while collecting but I don't know if my GI will fill out the paperwork. I prefer healing and working but my original plan was to start subbing in the spring andI can't imagine doing that yet.

Thanks again for the suggestion. Will try the A & D after my shower. Still haven't gotten to that today. If you look at the Tickle my Elbow Forumunder Anything But Celiac I cooked Bugs Bunny today. I feel like a murderer but my husband loves it and deserves something special for all his support. He spent a great deal of his childhood in Spain and it was common to catch, skin ad cook rabbits. When I bought it it looked lie a roast. Then when I went to cut it I realized it was a whole skinned rabbiit. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Thank you ll for all of the continuing support. This is the most amazing group of people I've ever been lucky enough to meet!!!!!!!

Yum rabbit! I wish I was at your house for dinner! If you think you are too acidic then give the liquid anticid a try. You can get an off brand and it's pretty cheep. I kept a bottle and labled it just for that use. I also did an emulsion with petroeulum jelly to help it stay on. At one point the acidity in my son's stool was causing his bottom to look like it was scalded. I applied it after every diaper change for two days and I also didn't use baby wipes to harsh on raw skin. I would clense the area with a mild soap and warm water and pat dry. I also swear by it because it definately kept me from getting raw during my colonoscopy prep. My mom had warned me about that so I took precautions. If possible let the area "breathe" as much as possible too.

Thanks for the suggestions Roda (and everyone else) I put A & D on after my shower but might also look into thw liquid antacid since it dries.

The rabbit smelled so good I tasted it and loved it. It hasn't seemed to bother me with my pain. I asked my hubby to come home early because I forgot to turn the crock pot to low and it was getting dried out. I'm on my 3rd load of laundry today and had a lot of medical paperwork to fill out. Plus I spent some time yelling at a company that I ordered an overpriced product from on 9/25 and it still hasn't arrived so I wasn't looking at he time. The rabbit is too expensive to ruin. My husband grew up in a very poor family and is really good about eating everything I make (even if it sucks and he also stays gluten-free at home).

I made plenty so you're welcome for dinner. Of course you'll have to teleport because we're in RI (LOL).

Glad it turned out well. I haven't eaten rabbit in several years. We raised them when I was a kid. I've got a possible lead on someone locally to maybe get a few and put in the freezer. My youngest son when he was three saw a bunny hopping in the park and said to me "mommy, I want to eat that bunny!" I laughed so hard, he was so serious. Two years later I still haven't gotten any for him to try. I know he would like it. He'll try just about anything. A few weekends ago he tried goat at the local farmer's market and loved it. I declined for gluten reasons, but if I could have I would have tried it too. Also, I hope your discomfort ends soon!

Thanks Roda! The rabbit was delicious. My son said he's like to try it over winter break. He confirmed what I thought he wants duck(s) for Thanksgiving, mot Turkey. So duck it shall be.

Today I ate some things I shouldn't have (They were on a gluten-free menu but I should have asked the waitress ti show me the package because I'm very sensitive right now and paid for it but will get back ton track tomorrow, Thanks for asking!

I don't see how cornstarch could alter the test results. Where did you read that?

For pain relief I take a combination of Thiamine (Benfotiamine), Pyridoxine B 6, and Cobalamine B12.  The combination of these three vitamins has analgesic effects.  I have back pain and this really works.  The B vitamins are water soluble and easily excreted.   Hope this helps!  Keep us posted on your results!

Welcome to the forum, @Xravith. I experienced similar symptoms before my diagnosis.  Mine were due to the loss of vitamins and minerals, essential nutrients we must get from our food.  With Celiac Disease, the intestinal lining, made up of thousands of villi, gets damaged and cannot absorb essential vitamins and minerals, especially the eight B vitamins.  The loss of Thiamine B 1 can cause muscle loss, inability to gain weight, edema (swelling), fatigue, migraines and palpitations.  Low thiamine can cause Gastrointestinal Beriberi with symptoms of nausea, abdominal pain and bloating.   Thiamine is only stored for a couple of weeks, so if you don't absorb enough from food daily, as the thiamine deficiency worsens physical symptoms gradually worsen.  If you're eating lots of carbs (like gluten containing foods usually do), you need more thiamine to process them (called high calorie malnutrition).  Thiamine works with all the other B vitamins, so if you're low in one, you're probably getting low in the others, too, and minerals like iron, magnesium, zinc, and calcium, as well as Vitamin D..  Talk to your doctor about checking for nutritional deficiencies.  Most doctors rarely recognize vitamin deficiency symptoms, especially in thiamine. Get a DNA test to see if you carry any Celiac genes.  If you do not have genetic markers for Celiac, it's probably IBS.  If you do have genetic markers for Celiac, it's probably Celiac.  I was misdiagnosed with IBS for years before my Celiac diagnosis.   Keep us posted on your progress. P. S. Deficiency in thiamine can cause false negatives on antibody tests, as can diabetes and anemia.

No she didn't because if I want to ask I have to pay 700$ for 1 hour appointment so I couldn't even ask. I read that fillers like cornstash can alter the result and tylenol contains it so that's why I tried to find someone who can answer.

Did the GI doc give you any rational for stopping the Tylenol during the gluten challenge? I have never heard of this before and I can't imagine a good reason for it. Ibuprofen, maybe, because it is an anti inflammatory but acetaminophen?  I don't see that it would have any impact on the test results to take Tylenol.
