Is Benadryl Safe?

I'm asking this question here rather than the children's forum because it gets more traffic. My daughter is having a bad reaction to corn syrup and has hives all over her body (won't even go into the crazy behavior...I'm sure most of us can relate) She is gluten free...can I give her (children's) benadryl? My gluten free app doesn't have drugs listed

I don't see any gluten ingredients, and everything in the liquids and tablets is listed on their website.

It looks like Benadryl is keeping all the "big 8" allergens out of their products because I don't see any corn syrup or starch either.

Thank you so much Skylark! I knew I'd get a fast response here. Now I can give her a dose now so I can do another one before bedtime. Much appreciated

Here's a list of medications that are supposed to be gluten-free. Always double check the label and/or the manufacturer's website.

Thanks Loey. Maybe as time goes on I'll be more familiar with what the ingredients are. Of course with my daughter I had to make sure there wasn't corn syrup too because that was causing the extreme reaction. Hopefully that Benadryl will just expire because we won't eat an offending food again. And won't need Advil because no more headaches, and no Rolaids because we won't have indigestion...

My Immodium expired, my Tums expired, I hardly ever need Benedryl now (though I am on Singulair), and the rare times I need Pepto Bismol when I've been glutened or sick I usually have to go buy a fresh bottle!

:D:D:D

I went through my medicine cabinet a couple of months ago and had to toss a bunch of those type meds too. My immodium had expired over 3 years ago! To think I used to have to buy a new box almost every week for almost 10 years!!!! Boy is that a good feeling as those meds get tossed in the wastebasket.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
