Biopsy Results?

Boilermaker

Recommended Posts

Boilermaker Rookie

I have my biopsy next week. I was just wondering how long it takes to get the results back.

I have already had a positive blood test, so I am assuming my biopsy will be positive too. I just want the testing to be over so I can start moving forward!

Thanks for your help!

Hi

You can start the diet right after the biopsy. Don't have to wait for results. You would need to see how you feel and decide when you get the results if they come back negative what you want to do, although hopefully you will feel so much better, it will be a no brainer. In Canada it takes at least 3 weeks I think, so depends where you are.

Positive blood, in my mind, means good to go!

It should only take a couple of weeks or so. As the previous poster said you can start the diet the day the biopsy is done. With positive blood work you need the diet no matter what the biopsy results are.

In our case the results were back in 48 hours. I think it just depends on the lab and when the doctor's office has a chance to call you.

8 days for our results, in Canada.

My Dr told me right after the biopsy that he saw scalloping and that is a sign of celiac, so I find out right away. I got the final pathology report a week later at the follow up appt.

That is good information. I expect since my blood tests are positive that they will do some kind of biospy. I never thought of it but I could go on it as soon as the test is over.

I tried the diet for three days. I immediately lost the a lot of the swelling around my tummy. It must have been fluid since I lost 2-3 lbs. Has anyone else had this experience?

Oh yea, I went from a size 16 to a 4 in the first month mainly due to losing the excess water. I also lost a shoe size.

Was the card itself lost or just the record or both?

We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen  I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce.   Something is making my pain so much worse  I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever would do. I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
