Licorice

I know I have read something about this, but can't find it now. Is licorice gluten free? I tried a new (to me) herbal tea with licorice and I feel a little peculiar today. It may be totally unrelated to gluten, but I just wondered about licorice.

I'm fairly sure pure licorice would be, but all licorice treats I have found in the store have gluten in them...I miss licorice :(

kareng Grand Master

I think it's licorice candy that they add gluten to.

Sounds like it's time far a call to the company. Thanks, y'all. I'll let you know what I find out and give the name of the tea. It really is good, so I hope it's OK.

read the ingredients, my favorite candy. But there is wheat in the ingredients of the ones that I can get at my stores.

I don't have an answer about the tea but Gimbals makes gluten free licorice scotties.

I eat the jelly beans all the time but haven't seen the scotties in stores. Now that I found the website I'll have to order a bunch. Off to do so right now.

There is gluten-free licorice out there. I think Organ makes it and also Candy Tree. If it is the herb it should be gluten-free but it always could be cross contaminated.

I've ordered Candy Tree through (Company Name Removed - They Spammed This Forum and are Banned)....not quite the same as the old red licorice with wheat in it but a nice treat !!!

Welcome to the forum, @Jay Heying! What is the reason your doctor is recommending this?

Hello everyone, this my first time to this website and I need some help. I’m 65 years old and have been living with Celiacs for about 15 years. My doctor has suggested I start taking a probiotic named  Integrative Pro-Flora-Concentrae. Has anyone else used this probiotic specifically? If this one isn’t celiac friendly can you recommend another please. Thank you.

If a Celiac person is successful in following a gluten-free diet, they can go into remission.   They may not have a reaction to gluten without a precipitating event like an injury or infection or even emotional or mental stress.   Following a strict gluten-free diet at home, then indulging in gluten containing products abroad without a reaction can be explained by this remission.
