Hello

Could anybody suggest a recipy for a birthday cake for a 5 y.o. (must be a "chocolate" cake - i.e. brown), eliminating the following ingredients

-gluten

-dairy

-soy

-eggs

-artificial dyes

-chocolate

-yeast

-nuts

(Feeling miserable at this point....)

Well OK smth brown sweet keeping form (without eggs hmm hmm) to be decorated with fruits and candles.

I suspect brown color could be achieved by something like caramel dyes. But no idea for the rest...

Thank you in advance

Wow, that is tough. I just pulled out a mix that I really like and am checking the label. I really, really like the Namaste Foods mixes. They come out just like 'regular' cake. The mix I have is for a spice cake, but here are the ingredients......

Evaporated Cane juice, sweet brown rice flour, brown sugar, tapioca flour, arrowroot flour, rice milk powder, baking soda, cream of tartar, xanthan gum, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. You do add eggs, but I wonder how it would do with an egg substitute? you also add oil and water- I always end up adding a mixture of apple sauce, pineapple and grated carrots to this cake for a carrot cake. It is an extremely forgiving mix. Worth a try!

If you don't have these mixes close to you, the website is www.namastefoods.com or phone 1-866-258-9493.

I don't usually push an item, but really do think this mix is fantastic.

Good luck to you!

Hi -

Not a recipe, but I wonder if you can have this delivered: Open Original Shared Link We have one locally and had some of their cupcakes ... they were incredible! I liked them better than regular. Vegan, so no eggs or dairy.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
