Toffifay

I got a box of Toffifay for my B-Day. I have eaten it a few times in my 7 months gluten free.

I popped one in my mouth as I turned the box over to read as it has never had wheat in it before.

This box says contains glucose syrup from wheat or corn.

So I didn't eat any more.

But I didn't feel sick and never have from them.

I don't wanna give up this treat.

But I want to be safe.

Does anyone eat them?

I googled and find some sites say they are gluten free because the amt. of gluten is far below allowable leves.

Is this just a CYA statement?

Can I eat my Toffifay?

Opinions please

I think I just answered my own question.

I'm eating them.

Want to know if anyone else does?

They are delicious.

Shelly Case said glucose syrup even if derived from wheat is gluten free.

Wha Hoo!

Happy Birthday :D And what is Toffifay???

Oh my gosh...it is a yummy wonderful little candy made by the Storck Company of Germany.

It is shaped like a half circle...and it has a super thin caramel shell filled with chocolate cream with one whole hazelnut inside and dollop of dark chocolate on top. It's all the good stuff wrapped in one bite.

Melts in your mouth and warms your soul.

Hope you can find it there!

Oh! just great! Another, super delicious, full fat & calorie gluten-free treat! :o

I'm actually happy for you, it's me who doesn't need to know about these.

Happy Birthday, a day late. Glad you were able to enjoy. I'll have to grab some of those next I shop as they sound really good.

Thanks Ravenwood!

Go get yourself a box for Mother's Day!

They are in Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, and even 7-Elevens!

That's my favorite and you will love them. Hope you tell me bout your reaction...

to the chocolate treasure I mean!

It actually says they contain wheat in the allergy information section, but I think the wheat protein is not present. If I hadn't been given them, I wouldn't have bought them, with wheat being on the label. I'm glad I researched. Apparently in Europe they often process their glucose syrup from wheat....but the gluten is gone by the time it reaches the end product.

That is what I'm believing until someone posts that they got sick from Toffifay!!

Thanks for letting me know about that. Actually I think I will pass on these personally. I know they say that the gluten is gone by the time all the processing is done but they say the same about distilled gluten grains and I definately react to those. May not effect all of us but for me they are out. :(

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
