Okay good cause we have some milk that a nieghbor gave us cause they went away for a vaction and di d not want it to go to waste. But its from a brand that actully refused to tell me if they had gluten in some fo their products. So we have avioded thier entire line....

Regular milk will not have gluten in it. If they have something added to it and will not tell you then I would be concerned and it may have gluten.

But what about the whole OJ thread last week? I think if the label is more than one ingredient long -ie, milk or oranges - you need to call. OJ is more often than not these days fortified with ????? or flavored or who knows what.

As for the neighbor's milk....as long as they didn't drink straight from the container while eating sandwiches or cookies.....it would be ok.

Yea, thats what I'm saying..if there is any added ingredients then you need to check but just them plain is nothing to be concerned about.

That would be pretty nasty if the neighbors gave them milk that they drank straight from the container :o

Yep, ewwwww, but that is how my mind works now.

Brain: "is there ANY way this might not be gluten-free....?"

I have never come across a problem with milk, but I distinctly remember being shocked when I first began researching that in some small areas of the country there was a problem with certain milks. Seems like it was in the midwest somewhere. I wish I could remember the details. It had something to do with the processing facilities in that area.

I'm very confused... My blood test came out negative, I checked all antibodies. I suppose my Total IgA levels are normal (132 mg/dl), so the test should be reliable. Still, I'm not relieved as I can't tolerate even a single biscuit. I need to talk to my doctor about whether a duodenal biopsy is necessary. But it is really possible to have intestinal damage despite having a seronegative results? I have really strong symptoms, and I don't want to keep skipping university lectures or being bedridden at home.

They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

@JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.
    • JettaGirl
This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.
