I didn't know which heading I should put this under, but here it is:

After only 17 days of my new diet, I feel like I have shed 20 years. I am one of those with no specific symptoms. I didn't even know I was sick. It was the link between psoriasis anc Celiac which brought me here.

But I guess I WAS sick. I thought I was just getting OLD! My psoriasis is almost gone already, but there are so many other things that have gotten better. I am now sleeping 7 or 8 hours a night, straight through. I have energy like I haven't felt since I was MUCH younger. My little aches and pains have disappeared. My head is clearer. I feel HOPEFUL and positive.

Today, I feel like I can take on the whole world and win. I am just so happy, I had to share it with all of you, along with my thanks for all the help and advice! :)

Jeesh...me too!:blink: ....I feel nice, dananananana like sugar and spice...crappers--that's stuck for a while now...

anyhoodle..

THIS IS AWESOME NEWS!!! Very happy for you

that you are seeing such a fast, positive response to the gluten-free life! WHOOHOO!

Not many people heal so quickly--hmm...maybe you are really lucky and maybe, you should play the lottery !!but, if you hit, you owe me a cut for making the suggestion B)

Continued good health to you!! ;)

bartfull Rising Star

I've been singing that song to the cat for the past two days. ;)

I'm thinking maybe the reason I feel so good is that I am finally sleeping well. It has affected everything - my energy level and my mood. I know my mood is better too, because my hands and feet don't hurt anymore. Now I can take a walk. Now I can play my guitar without pain.

And it has been so EASY. Just a change in diet. It wasn't old age after all. It wasn't any of those scary diseases that run through your thoughts in the middle of the night. I just changed my diet and now I feel healthy and strong.

And happy, happy, happy.

IrishHeart Veteran

okay, now you're just rubbing it in.....:lol:

(it's not always so EASY--as you say)

I'm tellin you, you're lucky...

seriously..ya gotta go buy a lottery ticket....!! :)

Wow! Well done! There's hope for me yet! I'm 31 and feel years older. The fatigue and aches and pains are driving me nuts. I'm going to slowly become gluten free this coming week (just to ease myself into it). My blood results arent back but it can't hurt!

Keep up the good work x

When I first started, I was SOOO tired. Waves of fatigue would wash over me and I needed to go lie down. Then a friend told me to avoid the sweet potatoes, carrots, and FRUIT I had been eating until late in the day. The fructose was making my sugar spike, then plummet. For the past week, I save all of the sugar filled fruits and veggies for supper and dessert. It has made a HUGE difference.

Get yourself some Udi's bread (tastes like french bread - yum!) Then stick to meat and potatoes or rice, and eat lots of broccoli or other green veggies. I don't know about anyone else, but my sweet tooth has shriveled up since I have been on this diet. I don't miss the cookies at all - instead I might have a slice of Canyon Bakehouse gluten free 7-grain bread as a snack. Then, as I said, a piece of fruit before bed - and that makes me sleepy.

I hope it goes as well for you as it has for me. :)

Many moons ago when I was waitressing, one of the women I worked with used to come up behind her fellow waitresses and sing a line from some of the worst songs she could think of, just to get them stuck in our heads.

Might I interest you in, "Like a rinestone cowboy", "See the tree how big it grows" (also known as "You died so I planted a stupid tree") or perhaps "You light up my life"?

But seriously, if you need a GOOD song to replace it with, just start singing, "I've got sunshine on a cloudy day..."

WOW...now, that's funny because that's the song my hubby always sings to me because he has always called me his "girl"...aw, thanks...that's better!! B)

(I guess the only one slightly worse would have been " she's Havin my baby"?? ...that "Honey, I miss you" one with the tree?..ow, man...UGH and pass me the barf bag)

The biopsy looks for damage to the mucosal lining of the small bowel from the inflammation caused by celiac disease when gluten is ingested. Once you remove gluten from the diet, inflammation subsides and the mucosal lining begins to heal.

Our support groups in Iowa have tried for years to educate doctors and resource sites like this one.  We have held yearly conferences with continued education classes.   We have brought in Dr. Murray, Dr. Fasano, Dr. Green and Dr. elliott.  In those many years we may have had 2 doctors attend.  We sent them information, with no response.  I talked to my personal doctor and she said their training for Celiac was to show them a skinny man in boxer shorts and a huge stomach.  Saying if you see this, it is Celiac.  If it isn't in their playbook then they don't care.  Most call it an allergy with no mention of our immune system.  There is so much false information on the internet.  Then people don't understand why they can't get well and are acquiring more immune diseases. I mention this site to everyone.  Scott has working hard for the Celiac community.

If you have DH you will likely also want to avoid iodine, which is common in seafoods and dairy products, as it can exacerbate symptoms in some people. This article may also be helpful as it offers various ways to relieve the itch:

You might also consider a low iodine diet as iodine is know to exacerbate dermatitis herpetiformis. But be careful with that as well as there are health problems that can accrue from iodine deficiency.
