I just want to say . . . knowing Emily as well as I do . . . she's lying right there.

Oh, Josh.. . ....now I feel quite badly. Poor bloke -- I walzed in and went on like gangbusters...I'll go search for him throughout the other active c.com threads, the ones that that are asking for participation in polls -- methinks that is where he'd be.....

You know, I may have accomplished one little victory, here.....one little goal.... ....I am certain, I could somehow just feel, that Josh completely agreed with me on the sad absence of "Frequently" in mainstream polling.

He has gone, and run with it.

He is going to make it happen.

THAT is where he's gone.

Go, Josh, GO!!!

I wonder, if we took a poll about taking polls, how many of us would be in favor of taking polls? I don't personally like multiple choice questions, since frequently the answer I want to give is not one of the options offered.

Well, we know what answer Oscar wants to give, "Yes, I want a darn cookie now!"

Once again, none of the above is what I would answer.

5). 293.25 and the Tower of London

And every poll should offer "41" as a possible answer, cause we all know it is the answer.

At this rate, we will soon have designed the perfect poll. One that everyone on C.com will want to answer!

I can't believe Elye didn't say she always chooses #2 though. Very strange.

Josh started a non-poll thread here.

What Were Your Symptoms? What Got Better?

It's almost like he wants us to hijack his threads! Kidding!

Ohhhhhh, shhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!te. .. . ......I've always been lead to believe that THE answer is 17.

Well, you were VERY close, Geeee-eff.......I was way off -- by 25.

Hey! Perhaps that's an answer.....to..... . . ......something else... . ...... B)

mushroom Proficient

Okay, what's the answer to this one?

Have you ever experienced doing something without being aware at the time of the action? ____________Yes _______________No

If yes, briefly describe______________________ ( ETA very briefly :P )

How often does this occur? ________________

I need the answers by Monday

Truly !!!

mushroom Proficient

In the same questionnaire (poll??) (for 85 following questions :o )

1 NEVER (Strongly Disagree)

2 RARELY (Disagree)

3 SOMETIMES (Not sure)

4 USUALLY (Agree)

5 ALWAYS (Strongly agree)

Anybody see "frequently" here?? Does "Sometimes" mean "Not Sure" ???

This is an eight-page freakin' questionnaire  I need help

Sample question: " I have a problem with headaches while sleeping" Well, shoot, if I had a headache I wouldn't be sleeping, and if I had a headache and were sleeping, perchance, would that be a problem?

Frequently would probably be the perfect answer. (or perhaps Not Sure??)

Shroomie? What?

I have done something without knowing if I was asleep? Or maybe medicated? What are you filling out and what is the result you want? Maybe we can figure out the answers if we know what you want out of the thing.h

mushroom Proficient

I am going to have an overnight sleep test (not sure who with  ) The headache thing could be pertinent, as in "Not tonight, dear, I have a headache"

Can you request George Clooney? Or tha Old Spice guy? Or just a comfy bed and a nice pillow and no dog shaking his ears and collar tags for no good reason in the middle of the night?

mushroom Proficient

Already got the bed request in, but I'm not sure we get a choice of pardners. And the shaking thang is one of the reasons I prefer kittehs :D

Frequently would probably be the perfect answer.

It ALWAYS is.. . . ... and it's NEVER THERE! Truly fascinating.... . . ...why is this? I am going to google this -- Why is the word 'frequently' never a choice in polls?

Well, there wouldn't be a lot o' sleeping' going on... . .....at least I hope not.....

Gawd, our felines are every bit as troublesome in the night as the dogs -- rolling about on the bed, licking and cleaning themselves, pawing my face to be petted.....

Or is that DH?... ..... . ....

Bo walks up my body, looks me right in the face and says "ARE YOU AWAKE??" Oddly enough, if I answer that I'm sleeping, he'll curl up and be quiet.

Yes, little Bo is a 15 or so pound cat who sounds like Mike Tyson.

I think youse guys failed to unnerstand the question:

"Have you ever experienced doing something without being aware at the time of the action? "

My muvver always taught me you learn from experience. (Well, of course, she would have preferred I listened and not had to do the experience part :P ) But to learn from experience you have to have been aware you were doing it at the time of the action, surely, Unless..... you come to and say, "Oh dear! How did I get here?" Oh, wait, I just got to question 65, they got that covered: "While drinking alcohol, I have carried out actons without being aware of them, and have not remembered them the next day." I don't think frequently is the answer to this one.

Ah, they may not have put in frequently, but did you notice they did include "rarely"? They do have the concept, they just refuse to use it!

My 16 lb Emily does the same thing, but she licks my eyelids to try to make me open them, and failing that she then proceeds to wash my hair (you'd think she didn't have enough of her own :o )

I figured they meant - You did something, like sleep walking or eating, & found out the next day cause your little brother took a picture of it & posted it on FB.

We have really gotten off topic. Some Mod should shut us down!

Gawd, yes.. . . . ...and I NEVER check off "rarely". I never, ever feel, do, nor have anything RARELY. 'Frequently' -- all the time. C'mon, you Official Pollsters! You are getting a completely skewed, misleading view of the world with your inaccurate question phrasing.

Just sayin'.

By the way . . . I wanted to officially answer the poll in question, but I wanted to add some disclaimers (as I often do in polls) . . .

My dog does not like question #1 or #2 at all (umm, yes, I know, not a choice.)

However, if there are dog treats associated with either #1 or #2, then my dog likes them a lot.

OK, carry on.

I FOUND MY PSILLIES!!!

So THIS is where everyone's been! Last time I checked on this thread it was just starting page 2.

...and if we're talking multiple choice questions, what happened to 'none of the above'? <_< ....which fits in with 'frequently'

....because if a poll asked.."How often would you choose 'none of the above'?, naturally the answer would be.....

Frequently!

Oscar Apprentice

So, I took a poll here where I am among myself and the other denizens of of the locus.

All the others said, "frequently none of the above apply and so we are going to bed." :P

I'm dumb enough to still be pecking at a keyboard to say, "who gives a s**t?"

Anybody got a gluten-free cookie? Oh, wait, wrong Muppet. :o

Darn210 Enthusiast

No cookies for you Oscar but it IS trash day here. Did you want first dibs?

A) No thanks, got enough already.

2) You betcha, one man's trash is MY treasure.

iii) Frequently

d) 42

This article does not address migraines at all.  Yes, red wine and sulfites are often mentioned in connection with migraine triggers. With me, any kind of alcoholic beverage in very modest amounts will reliably produce a migraine. Nitrous oxide generators, which are vaso dialators, also will give me migraines reliably. So, I think most of my migraines are tied to fluctuations vascular tension and blood flow to the brain. That's why the sumatriptan works so well. It is a vaso constrictor.

Excessive dietary tyrosine can cause problems.  Everything in moderation.   Sulfites can also trigger migraines. Sulfites are found in fermented, pickled and aged foods, like cheese.  Sulfites cause a high histamine release.  High histamine levels are found in migraine.  Following a low histamine diet like the low histamine Autoimmune Protocol diet, a Paleo diet, helps immensely.    Sulfites and other migraine trigger foods can cause changes in the gut microbiome.  These bad bacteria can increase the incidence of migraines, increasing histamine and inflammation leading to increased gut permeability (leaky gut), SIBO, and higher systemic inflammation.   A Ketogenic diet can reduce the incidence of migraine.  A Paleo diet like the AIP diet, that restricts carbohydrates (like from starchy vegetables) becomes a ketogenic diet.  This diet also changes the microbiome, eliminating the bad bacteria and SIBO that cause an increase in histamine, inflammation and migraine.  Fewer bad bacteria reduces inflammation, lowers migraine frequency, and improves leaky gut. Since I started following the low histamine ketogenic AIP paleo diet, I rarely get migraine.  Yes, I do eat carbs occasionally now, rice or potato, but still no migraines.  Feed your body right, feed your intestinal bacteria right, you'll feel better.  Good intestinal bacteria actually make your mental health better, too.  I had to decide to change my diet drastically in order to feel better all the time, not just to satisfy my taste buds.  I chose to eat so I would feel better all the time.  I do like dark chocolate (a migraine trigger), but now I can indulge occasionally without a migraine after.   Microbiota alterations are related to migraine food triggers and inflammatory markers in chronic migraine patients with medication overuse headache https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11546420/

Then we would need to cut out all meat and fish as they are richer sources of tyrosine than nuts and cheese. Something else about certain tyrosine rich foods must be the actual culprit.
    • Scott Adams
I agree that KAN-101 looks promising, and hope the fast track is approved. From our article below: "KAN-101 shows promise as an immune tolerance therapy aiming to retrain the immune system, potentially allowing safe gluten exposure in the future, but more clinical data is needed to confirm long-term effects."
    • Scott Adams
Thank you so much for having the courage to share this incredibly vivid and personal experience; it's a powerful reminder of how physical ailments can disrupt our fundamental sense of self. What you're describing sounds less like a purely psychological body dysmorphia and more like a distinct neurological event, likely triggered by the immense physical stress and inflammation that uncontrolled celiac disease can inflict on the entire body, including the nervous system. It makes complete sense that the specific sensory input—the pressure points of your elbows on your knees—created a temporary, distorted body map in your brain, and the fact that it ceased once you adopted a gluten-free diet is a crucial detail. Your intuition to document this is absolutely right; it's not "crazy" but rather a significant anecdotal data point that underscores the mysterious and far-reaching ways gluten can affect individuals. Your theory about sensory triggers from the feet for others is also a thoughtful insight, and sharing this story could indeed be validating for others who have had similar, unexplainable sensory disturbances, helping them feel less alone in their journey.
