Help! - How Do I Clean Up Spilled Xanthan Gum?

Ok, not quite a baking/cooking question, but I know that a lot of you use xanthan gum too.

I spilled it everywhere - all over the counter, my Vitamix, my clothes. : ( If you use it, you know it's really gummy. It's gummed up now, and I can't seem to get it off of everything. I even looked online for hints, but nothing.

Anyone? I would be sooooo grateful.

hmmm... got anything you can bind it too? (i would suggest flour buuuuuuuut :P) Like baking soda, etc? As for clothes, i'd soak them and see what happens.

For the counter and anything hard/non-porous you could try some Goo Gone. I've never spilled Xanthan Gum but Goo Gone takes off stickers and gummy messes so it might just dissolve the mess and be easy to wipe away.

For your clothes just try any laundry stain remover first--wash but DON'T put in dryer. Air dry first to see if it came out completely.

cornmeal? it works for oil. which i know because i once dropped a glass bottle full of olive oil on my kitchen floor and it broke. there was oil everywhere! i poured cornmeal on it and then just scooped up the cornmeal. don't use flour.

Thanks for the ideas everyone! I still have a gooey mess on my counter and clothes, but am thinking to try some of your suggestions.

for chewing gum, you use PB or oil. Or maybe freeze it to get it hard. Put an ice pack on it, then scrape it up? Vinegar melts flour stickiness, maybe? Orange juice/ peel/oil in orange based cleaners. The things you use on cars for sap are usually oil based like WD40

Sorry I didn't see this sooner as we could have tried a few car cleaners to see ( we have them all).

What is your counter made off? I have Silestone & you can use a razor blade on it but not acids like vinegar or orange.

I have nothing helpful, bit did think of you this morning when I used xg. The bag was sticky and I suddenly had a vision of dropping it on my floor. Ick.

I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.

Many years ago yes, after eating and going to bed, apparently my esophagus filled with food that my body rejected, the esophagus would lay against the Heart sack (pericardium?) and the heart would respond by becoming arrhythmic. That went away with the strict diet.
