Just in case you didn't know the FDA doesn't require Skin Care & Cosmetic Industry to list all the ingredants on the packaging (pretty scary). Ever notice "other active ingredents." I know everyone is pretty good about checking their products first, but I know when I am in a hurry sometimes I just glance at the ingredent list. I just wanted to put that out their so you all know to be careful. Our skin is the largest organ on our body and absorbs what we put on it, Gluten in your lotion will affect you.

Actually, Sarah, your information is incorrect. Gluten is not absorbed through the skin because the molecule is too large. It is a problem if you ingest it into your GI tract but you cannot be glutened by merely putting skin lotions on that contain gluten. The only time it's an issue is if you have topical allergies to a specific ingredient, which can be wheat. That is not a Celiac reaction, though. The choice to go entirely gluten-free with skin care products is a personal one but not medically necessary for many people.

Thank you so much. My head was starting to hurt thinking of all the things my daughter needs to watch out for. Now I should be able to take soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion off the list, right?

I know I absorb gluten through my skin. And I react by breaking out with psoriasis. When I went on a gluten free diet they went away for the first time in 60 years. When I accidentally opened a gravy packet and it poured over my hand they came back under my fingernails.

Most likely, you have a gluten allergy which manifests itself topically, as well as a gluten intolerance. Gluten cannot be absorbed through the skin, as Gemini stated.

Personally, I would still check those items that may have a tendency to be accidentally ingested. Shampoo and conditioner especially, since they could run into your mouth in the shower. I also watch out for lotions too, since the residue could be transferred to my food if it's on my hands before I eat.

And with kids, things have a way of ending up in their mouths. My nephews treat bathtime like a trip to a water park. But, I guess that also depends on the age of your daughter. :)

I hadn't thought of that! Thank you for your comment. It helps me to understand my problems a little better.

"Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.
