  1. JNBunnie, Yum, yes, I will try that- I do eat nuts. Glad to hear the cramp is gone. The cough could easily have added to your issues. And, I DO know how to write the English language somewhat correctly. Grr.... I don't like it when I have numerous typos! sigh... Pet peeve in this "texting" age. Patti, I also get a little reacty, in a more bearable...
  2. Del, I haven't exactly had that happen (my big, bad pain is always INTENSE on my left side and in my left hip bone.) But, if you just had the flu that could be impacting you. And, when glutened, I can have random pains all through my abdomen. In fact, I get this type of more what I call "IBSish" reaction just to too much roughage or too much of some kind...
  3. Thank you everyone! Patti, it's interesting what you say about Glutino because I was eating my special cookies when the recent glutening happened. And I completely agree about amount of grain consumption. I can eat Tinkyada with no problem but not for days and days in a row. So, maybe I just had too many days in a row with a cookie. Bummers. I will look...
  4. Hi again, I've been using Glutino rice flour to make some shortbread cookies with homemade jam when I want a treat and I THINK this company is okay. IS it dedicated? Thoughts, anyone? The type I use is just plain rice flour. I,too, eat almost no grains so don't do the substitutions. Thank you! lisa
  5. Hi Patti, I did switch to low-gluten puppy treats (can't find gluten-free yet) and still am feeling a little "reacty" so I'm not sure. It could just be from the initial reaction. I am feeling a little desperate and angry- it never seems obvious to me! That's why I am so scared to put anything in my mouth or on my face without conducting doctoral level...
  6. Hi. I just saw this thread and thought I'd throw in my two super-sensitive cents. I, too, react to a molecule of gluten and could not believe this would be possible when first diagnosed. In fact, when told that some had that reaction I think I said something like, "Yeah, RIGHT." Well almost 4 years later I've learned the hard way that I am ultra-sensitive...
  7. Hi Livingglutenfree, It only took me 35 years and the 6th gastroenterologist to correctly diagnose my intestinal issues. They started in earnest when I was eleven. I was mostly healthy but would go through periods that were miserable and they always ran all those lovely upper and lower GIs and came back saying I either had colitis or IBS. Then in 2...
  8. Kristen, Had you gone off gluten at all prior to your bloodwork? And, did they run a complete celiac panel? (It's 5 tests last I knew...) I suspect no matter what the tests ultimately reveal you may benefit from a gluten-free diet. Your symptoms sound somewhat similar to mine minus the rheumatoid. A gluten-free diet really is not as big a deal as so many...
  9. Thanks, Tarnalberry and Juliebove! I'll head to Whole Foods or Planet Dog to check out what they have. Take care, lisa
  10. Oh yeah, Elizabeth, for one thing, Hershey's is no longer using pure chocolate. And then I read that they cannot guarantee their products are gluten-free anymore. I think! I'm pretty sure I saw that, anyway. Either way, they should be using pure chocolate. lisa
  11. Thank you, Patti and Elizabeth. Yes, I think the type of treats my son bought for the pup with "wheat" clearly listed as first ingredient, and with everyone touching them while using them to train Bruce (the puppy) need to go! My dogs and cats eat IAMs which, if not gluten-free, is definitely gluten-lite. I need to find a puppy treat with no gluten...
  12. Thank you, Patti! I hope you are well. Yeah, I haven't missed this wretched feeling. Well, maybe it's the new puppy who is eating gluten-rich treats! First time the evil grain has been (knowingly) in our house for awhile. I got it bad, though... Thank you for the enjoy life tip- I've never had a problem with them. I'm longing for a piece of chocolate...
  13. Hi everyone, I'm suffering a random glutening after months without one. (almost 4 years in here- I know what to look for...) Has anyone had any trouble (who doesn't have corn issues) with Del Monte canned corn? Also, can any very sensitive people tell me what they are now using for cooking cocoa now that Hershey's has become unreliable? AND, I'd LOVE...
  14. Lancome's line Le Rouge Absolu is gluten-free. I'm highly sensitive to gluten and have worn their lipstick every day for over two years. Pricey but lasts and worth it. lisa
  15. If you wear lipstick, you eat it. I also get shampoo in my mouth on occasion and I'm pretty coordinated! I get cc'd very easily. I also stayed ill for a summer when I worked as a floral designer and frequently used wheat in dried arrangements. I was inhaling it. It's great if you are someone who doesn't react to much; not everyone is the same. ...
  16. Lancome "Le Rouge Absolu" line is gluten free. I am VERY sensitive and have successfully used it every day for over 2 years. lisa
  17. I love Larabars. I am hugely sensitive to gluten; I think it's something else. Reading about raw cashews can be illuminating. I think Larabars can cause an IBSish reaction and I think it's the dates. They are a natural laxative, for one thing. However, all that said, I eat only the banana, cherry and now lemon Larabars and never more than 1/2 a bar at a time...
  18. Thank you for this useful thread for We the Ultra-Sensitive! I don't eat much processed food and DO eat dairy (for 2 years, however, I was gluten, soy, dairy, egg, legume, nightshade, high fructose corn syrup and corn free- can't remember what I did eat-KIDDING!) I am ridiculously sensitive to gluten and still eat no gluten, soy, legumes or HFCS. I completely...
  19. Oops, I forgot to say I eat lots of veggies, too, mostly cooked- they seem to sit better!
  20. Since you are so new to gluten-free you probably need to stay away from dairy for awhile. I eat Fage every single day but that is only after 2 YEARS with no dairy and working it slowly back in. A food log with symptoms is essential. It will be your friend. I cannot digest rice no matter how "easy to digest' people say it is. (My mom being a big proponent...
  21. Hi back, Amber- I'm from southern Maine but I lived in Bangor while attending UMO many moons ago. I am double DQ 1, sub-types 5 and 6- can't help with your type but it looks like folks are helping! lisa
  22. Anyone still out there? Is Perky's Nutty Rice free of CC issues? Thanks, lisa
  23. Amber, Glad you are getting some help at last. Perhaps many of your issues will resolve without the evil gluten. And a big "hello" from a fellow Mainer. lisa
  24. I'd go gluten-free for a few weeks and see if you feel better. If you don't I suppose you could put wheat and it's friends back. But, I agree with Shayfl, if you were positive, it seems you're positive. And with someone with celiac in the house, being all gluten-free is much easier and less stressful. Good luck! lisa
  25. Darlindeb and Patti, Thank you! Deb, thank you for your e-mail; I'm so bad with computers I couldn't figure out how to respond directly! I know, it's pretty sad, isn't it? lisa
