  1. Hello All, Might I have suggestions for an absolutely trusted hard candy sans gluten, soy and HFCS? Really appreciate any thoughts. I am a ridiculously sensitive one so I need ones that people like me have eaten routinely with success? Thanks so much! Happy Halloween! lisa
  2. Just want to add my voice to those who recommend dishsoap sans gluten. If you've ever swilled from a glass, say, a teenager washed and rinsed with a little less zeal than you might hope for and tasted SOAP- I rest my case! Patti is wise, as always. Cross contamination is cross contamination and if there are posters here who have never had serious issues...
  3. Absolutely! Mine always flosses and brushes- I'm way too sensitive for us to do otherwise. (He also doesn't eat much gluten himself, however) Sometimes I think it's happened anyway after what I call "BIG" gluten (like breads, cakes, cookies- lots of possibilities to stay in teeth) But that would be with...ahem, pardon me.....deep kissing. Not worth me...
  4. I, too, was recently glutened by getting a fellow actresses' hair in my mouth (during a choreographed fight scene in the production I'm currently in) and she uses a hairspray containing wheat.I got quite sick and am very sensitive. 6 years in, NOTHING but gluten causes the symptoms I know herald a week of being sick. No wheat in any topical product for...
  5. Anyone know if Rusk hairspray is ok? Their website is confusing me. Thank you again! lisa
  6. Thanks, Ravenwood, and, yes, it's a job- but a good one! I'll stick with American Spirit. lisa
  7. Yay Fage! It IS daunting, but, trust your own body and its reactions and only search for the answers YOU need. Everyone's experience with this "condition" is not the same. "...just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in....." Good health to all, lisa
  8. Hey, thank you both! Yes, I am familiar with the vapor cigs but the director's vision is that no cigs will be lit, very minimalist production stylistically, however, I will be "dragging" and hanging it out of my mouth so I do need a cig I can hang off my lip without being paranoid of gluten. (already suffering a glutening from another actor's body lotion...
  9. I don't smoke anymore but need to in a production I am in. Any supersensitives able to comment on whether or not it's okay to put a cigarette in my mouth (??!!!!! Duh... glutenwise, I mean)? I'm actually not lighting it onstage. Or what brands would be gluten safe? Thank you for any help, lisa
  10. LOTS of companies claim "gluten free" who seem unaware of the cc issues with shared lines or shared facilities. I NEVER trust something that says "gluten free" until I contact the company and grill them, particularly because I have learned (the very hard way...) that I am ultra-sensitive to the evil gluten. Like so many on this board! Just a thought, lisa
  11. I am a veteran of a VERY specific 5 year food log; sadly, I cannot tell you that it is a magic bullet, only that patterns emerge AFTER A GOOD DEAL OF TIME. Be tenacious, continue to record all foods, cosmetics, habits, symptoms (I developed code words for all) and begin with TWO OR THREE TRUSTED FOODS (If you have any). If you feel better, add something new...
  12. Hi, I am hyper-sensitive and eat Planter's south beach diet mix every day (no nuts for 2 years though at first-they can be tough to digest while healing). It's a Kraft product and the company clearly lists allergens on labels and what are produced on same lines. good luck! lisa
  13. Fage Greek yogurt is sensational; I've been eating it for years and it's luscious. Also, there is some scientific opinion out there that the yogurts that come already loaded with sugar actually "kill" off the probiotics one would hope to benefit from by eating yogurt. Adding some sugar when you eat it may not have that same effect. Read that somewhere a long...
  14. That sounds great Ravenwood. Patti- thank you! You've solved years of mystery for me! Can you tell I'm not a fan of New Speak?!! lisa
  15. What DOES "IMHO" mean? Patti, thank you for that reminder of Afterglow; I'd like to try that, too. lisa
  16. Ravenwood, I do wear it daily and I use Lancome- it's pricey. But Ecco Bella is another safe one (not so cheap either) The Lancome is long-wearing and worth it though; I've used it for years. Le Rouge Absolu, L'absolu Rouge and Color Design lines of Lancome are all safe.(not positive about the soy, although I don't eat, it I'm not as fierce about bits of...
  17. Oh yes, and did I mention that it only took 35 years of symptoms, 5 gastroenterologists along with all of their fun exams repeated over and over over the years and getting so sick I thought I had cancer to have one think of celiac and do a celiac panel? Yeah, diagnosed at 47 after having issues since I was around 11- that was about 5ish years ago. Remember...
  18. My experience, both personally and from reading this board for 5 years, is that most doctors still only use the biopsy as the "gold standard" of diagnosis. I had a high tTg (and was "gluten lite" for 4 months before biopsy) and it came back negative. Subsequently I've been to doctors who trust the tTg and symptom relief from removal of gluten. I also had...
  19. Thank you, Patti! lisa
  20. Ditto for all the ways you mentioned, Sandsurfgirl, and thank you again, Patti, for reminding people that it is hurtful to be told you are essentially not informed if you have sensitivity to topicals. The level of intelligence and the amount of research the average contributor to this board does continues to both astonish me and give me hope for mankind....
  21. Hi again. Does anyone (sensitive to gluten) use Alba lotion with success?(company offers no guarantees but ingredients seem okay) Thanks for your time. lisa
  22. Hello, dear ones, Any hyper-sensitives out there who might recommend a folic acid supplement that is absolutely safe and with no soy or other icky things as well? Like, no sorbitol, HFCS and such? I have to take for a medical issue and am not looking forward as I rarely take any pills or vitamins and supplements. Thank you! lisa
  23. Having just read through this, and discovering after initial cynicism, that I am ridiculously reactive to gluten, using topicals is DEFINITELY an issue that is relative to a person's sensitivity. Thank you, Patti. My experience is not yours nor yours mine. Perhaps by sharing we find similarities between various and unique answers that aid us and hence...
