  1. If you read scientific research re: greying hair it is about the buildup of hydrogen peroxide- not a bad marriage or crazy kids or angst about the coming comet... That said, it does seem like there is a contribution from enzymes in this and perhaps that is the link in the perceived positive response for youthful hair following gluten removal as gluten seems...
  2. Hi Tennisman from England! I am wondering now after reading your recent posts if the Paleo diet might help a bit? I found after YEARS (5) of a DETAILED food and symptom log that there were many things I had issues with-food! But now, 6 years in, I am ALMOST Paleo (I eat dairy now, so no...). I don't tolerate grains in general very well so they are markedly...
  3. Perhaps some counseling would be your best route right now; be sure you give it a chance and then be discerning in terms of getting a good "match". (It can take SOME trial and error to find a counselor who's right for you.) I am a super sensitive celiac who has lived gluten (AND soy, and corn and egg and nightshade and legume and dairy...blah, blah, blah...
  4. Fage is amazing and safe- eat the plain, o% fat every day! My Mom used to make ours but I've not been that ambitious; although I make most of my food from whole foods and don't purchase much that is processed... Good health to you! lisa
  5. Lisa, Thank you for your highly-regarded response! I did read it but I admit I did not use my highly necessary, non-prescription yet I am useless without, eyeglasses, so I will review the microscopic writing again! Thank you very much and I hope you are very well! lisa
  6. First, I'd reiterate what Patti said re: it's no one's business what you "do"!, and then I'd say, "tell the truth"- It's the easiest thing to remember! I've had a million lives, one of which was a "stay-at-home Mom" to two now grown children, but, before that, I was and still am a working actor who gets paid well when I work and not when I don't, a waitress...
  7. Hi! Daily I've used Tom's of Maine toothpaste (great guy actually FROM Maine but sold the company I think to Crest or Colgate...) and Garnier shampoos. Also use Lancome lipstick (Le Rouge Absolu and Color Design lines) daily for 5 or more years with no trouble. And I am very sensitive to the evil gluten... Good luck! lisa
  8. Hi everyone, I know this has been addressed her ad nauseum over the years but I need a quick answer: are ALL Suave products still gluten free? Or at least clearly marked? And would anyone know if their Coconut conditioner is safe? If not, that'll teach me to switch off from using my tried and true vinegar rinse just 'cause my hair suddenly decided to become...
  9. I didn't eat corn (amongst about a million other things...) for 2 years when first gluten free as it is rough- lots of fiber. I eat it now happily but not too much all around the same time! Still don't tolerate rice but can eat rice flour...again, I think it's the fiber. lisa
  10. Hi, I think you'll find variation on this board, as always; however, I will say that when I was a couple of years in to being gluten free my reactions were off the charts and now, as I'm into my 6th year, they may be a tad less dramatic. That said, I am supremely sensitive to the evil gluten and, frankly, am afraid of it for the way it makes me feel. ...
  11. I know this thread is not about wine but! I know we are all different but, I am so ridiculously sensitive (recently got glutened by breathing flour in the air again and, yes, I'm sure..)so I just have to say, I drink wine every day (true confessions from a girl of French and Greek heritage) and I KNOW wine is okay- for ME... I tend to look to more insidious...
  12. Thanks, Shauna; that's pretty interesting re: sweet potatoes- "sigh" is right, eh?! Take care, lisa
  13. After reading research demonstrating that the absolute best way to clear bacteria from fruits and veggies is with one part apple cider vinegar to 2 parts water, that is what I do for bacteria. And I rinse everything again thoroughly after soaking in that for about ten minutes. Of course, this does not "kill" gluten, but, hopefully it washes away random crumbs...
  14. Hello. I'm late to this but thought I'd throw in my two cents. I react very similarly to MargoS.; I am afraid of gluten. I've been gluten free since 2005, am extremely sensitive (found out the hard way) and NOTHING does what gluten does to me so... if I hear hoofbeats..... Symptoms: severe left side abdominal pain, gas and bloating, very distended...
  15. Clearly this must be a dizzyingly difficult decision for anyone who is not ridiculously sensitive to gluten and who does not react in about 26 different and equally horrid ways to gluten ingestion. I am AFRAID of gluten because of how it hurts; but that is my experience. After 35 years of various diagnoses, none of which satisfactorily helped me, it took...
  16. Hi. For those who love chocolate and are supersensitive, here is my Enjoy Life fudge recipe that people (all people, not only those with celiac) BEG me to make- not too sweet and, oh so tasty. I am super duper sensitive and eat this every day with no problems. HERE: I take a "bread pan" and oil with olive oil. 2 Pkgs Enjoy Life chips into a saucepan...
  17. Hi! Been absent from this board for a long while but ... I did have the endo and colonoscopy after positive bloodwork. I had stopped "obvious" gluten for 4 months prior to the scheduled biopsy so it returned "inconclusive". The gastro (5th in a line of gastro specialists since I was 11 years old over a span of 35 years to suggest having a celiac panel so...
  18. Skylark, Thank you! lisa
  19. Thank you, Sue. I am interested but do not know how to "PM". Incredible, huh? Anyway, I may get help on that..... lisa
  20. Hi everyone and super sensitives specifically: Could you please tell me an absolutely trusted widely available (whole foods, maybe?) probiotic? (no soy,no gluten) I am taking a heavy duty antibiotic much to my dismay (Augmentin) and want to beef up my intestines beyond daily yogurt. I know this has been on here before, so, sorry, but any help is greatly...
  21. I was a "colicky" baby. Took only 35 years to diagnose celiac- no idea if there's a connection but an interesting hypothesis! lisa
  22. I use Seventh Generation- and it frees us up slightly from our addiction to petrochemicals! I agree with Patti as a highly sensitive person- ANY residue can cause problems! It must be so wonderful to never have to deal with this and have everything so cut and dried- I'm envious of such people! And I trust that some feel their experience should be the...
  23. Just because a company says it is "gluten free" does not assure us of safety- at least not yet! MANY, many of us here who've been on this journey for years have had issues with Bob's Red Mill; maybe they've cleaned up their act, but if you are highly sensitive, I would avoid them. I am almost 6 years in and the learning curve can be daunting at times! Of...
