  1. Hi guys, All you unfortunately ultra sensitives out there: have you had any success with Reed's Ginger chew candies? I lust after them and bought a few but daren't put one in my mouth... Advise? lisa
  2. Always got nailed by Amy's. Never eat it anymore. Very sensitive though and dedicated companies and dedicated lines are essential for me. Never would have believed it 'til I lived it. lisa
  3. I'm one of the super sensitives who got nailed by Fritos. Just a heads up. Many seem to be able to tolerate and many of us can't. lisa
  4. Heck yes! Someone on here had a list of gluten free cosmetics and I'm not computer savvy enough to find the link- maybe someone else will post. But, especially if you are very sensitive-something only time will tell, you must check any product that possibly could be ingested. Fructis and Suave shampoos are safe. Lancome's website has a good list of things...
  5. Many don't get all the bugs out for a couple of years (me!) As Lisa said, there is a ridiculous learning curve with this disease and this diet. It seems some people can simply cut out gluten, replace it with all the replacement items and merrily go along; however, that does not seem to be the norm! I am over 5 years in, eat almost NO processed food, NEVER...
  6. Just to add my two cents from the super sensitive crowd (5 years in): 2 years ago I ate regular Fritos for many months, sometimes feeling okay, often not. After an elimination diet it became clear the Fritos were the culprit. Unfortunately, I am one of those for whom dedicated lines are essential. Once I took them out, no more problems. Consequently,...
  7. When gluten gets in I have horrible nightmares, food may or may not be a subject or theme-often it is- and they are very disturbing and weird and complex. That said, I don't dream for long as the evil gluten causes so much pain and stomach distention and joint pain and AAAaaarrgghhhhh, that I am awake tossing and turning all night. Usually from 2 AM on. Happening...
  8. You have some good responses here. It took me 2 YEARS to get the bugs out and now, over 5 years gluten free, I continue to suffer periods of apparent "glutening" where I cannot identify the offender! It is frustrating. I kept a food log for five years that was extremely valuable; you may find it helps. Right now, for instance, I am suffering symptoms similar...
  9. Hi again, Ultra-sensitives: Is this cheese okay? I seemed to be having no issues but got sick last night and am looking for culprit (and vengeance)I've been gluten free for 5 years, eat only what I make and have a gluten free house- I know the drill. But I did add this cheese in about a week ago. Thank you! lisa
  10. Hi, Fellow sensitives- Sorry if this has been asked a zillion times; I can't find it here. I am taking Prometrium (oral) and Estriol (cream)to control menopausal symptoms (a little reluctantly). The pharmacist has said they are gluten free but now I can't corroborate this. Does anyone know? Does anyone take this? Is there air???!!!!! (sorry, little reference...
  11. Hi, I am ridiculously sensitive to gluten (I am AFRAID of gluten, that's how intense the reaction is...) and have eaten Planter's south beach diet mix (almonds, macadamia and cashews) for over 2 years nearly daily and have NEVER had a problem. If there were wheat, I would know. On the other hand, I didn't eat ANY nuts for 2 years while healing as they can...
  12. Hi, I have successfully put tomatoes back in for 2 years now (didn't have any nightshades for about 2 and 1/2 years) with success. Occasionally, I'll have a little bit of white potato but they still bother me a bit. Potato chips don't (??!!!!!) but I can't find a company without cross-contamination! I sometimes eat red peppers as well. I'm highly sensitive...
  13. Maybe someone should "unknowingly" slip him a little strychnine- see how he reacts. Sorry... couldn't resist. I'm NOT serious. I guess..... lisa
  14. Late to the table here but, for the record, I live in a gluten free house because living with gluten just didn't work and my family decided it was worth it to help me stop getting sick. Needless to say perhaps, I am highly sensitive and actually suspect a Christmas glutening from being at my Mom's where she was baking many gluten-containing items. I eat NOTHING...
  15. Thank you, Patti! And for the other tip- not sure I've seen those in this area. These SOUND okay- maybe I'll get brave and give them a whirl. Hope you are WELL. lisa
  16. Hello all! I just bought a bag of "Food should taste good" sweet potato chips and long to taste them but fear processed foods. Any highly sensitive people trust these? Jersey angel, Momma goose- are you out there? Thanks! lisa
  17. Northern Elf, Sorry you are sick. I JUST bought a bag of "food should taste good" sweet potato chips and was just about to ask the highly sensitives if they'd tried them. Sounds like you have a lot of recent variables, unfortunately, so I have no good advice except to go back to your strictly known safe foods for awhile. Feel better, lisa
  18. I am HIGHLY sensitive to gluten, have been gluten free for 5 years and worn Le Rouge Absolu by Lancome every day. Your ingredients look okay to me. lisa
  19. Well, I'd certainly suspect something at your friend's house but, if the nausea and inability to eat normally continues, I would consult my doctor. Could be a bug; could be you are more sensitive now? Others will post. Feel better, lisa
  20. Keep reading here. There's lots of useful info re: cc and other sensitivities. many of us needed to be off dairy as well when first gluten free while we healed. Also, you may be intolerant to other things as well. Commonly, soy, corn, nightshades and sometimes legumes may bother us. I was free of all these things for two years before slowing reintroducing...
  21. How long have you been gluten free and have you been "officially" diagnosed (bloodwork and/or biopsy)? There is a long learning to curve to ridding our lives of all gluten and if you are super-sensitive you may need more investigative work. A food log is helpful. Is this your only symptom now and what were your symptoms prior to going gluten free? (Maybe...
