  1. I tried bentonite clay. It didn't really do anything. It didn't hurt either. Any colon cleanse that I tried did not do much of anything. Eating healthy with lots of fiber (fruits and vegetables) did more for my health than anything else. Kim
  2. Thanks for your input everyone. I'm very illiterate when it comes to these types of boards. This is the only one I communicate on. And while I don't have any experience with other boards, I do deal with spam on pop ups and email, etc. Not only is everyone on this board (is that what I call it?) very knowledgeable and helpful, I am very grateful not to...
  3. I have a question. What about when someone sends me a PM that is promoting their own (she said her husband's actually) websites, blogs, etc.? That's kind of annoying. The people here have been very helpful and knowledgable, and when I get something like this it's so much like a slap in the face. Is this against the rules, or do I just have to block this...
  4. It always amazes me how people think about food. If someone were to offer me a cookie and I say that I can't eat it because I have allergies, they can get really offended. I usually have to say something like, "you don't want to know what will happen to my intestines if I eat that" before they will stop pushing. I usually just say I have really bad allergies...
  5. Bob's Red Mill makes a gluten free brownie mix that is delicious! Tastes just like the real thing!
  6. In brief, problems with food started around pregnancy (also on birth control pills for many many years), being in Mexico and being on three courses of antibotics within a very short period of time. Dealing with this for the last 12 years. Low thyroid diagnosis helped. Dealing with candida helped. Organic, natural whole food helped. Juicing vegetables...
  7. I'm AB- but I have never been diagnosed. My blood test and biopsy came back negative but I was only back on gluten for 3 weeks prior to testing. I definitely have a problem with gluten, dairy and eggs.
  8. I have a problem eating peanut butter. I also have a problem eating cashews. I switched to almond butter and now I love it as much as peanut butter. I also used to crave chocolate all the time, especially during my cycle, ... right before actually. Since I started taking magnesium, I no longer crave chocolate. Kim
  9. If I drink any alcohol, eat any dairy, or eat any gluten free cookies or cakes, I get terrible cravings. I can eat almond butter with raw honey and not have cravings so I think that it is the processed sugar that gets me. When I am really craving sugar I usually have to just suffer through a few days. Then after that the cravings go away. I may still...

    ARCHIVED A Lady Thing

I get more digestive upset problems and more problems with gas when I am on my period. I did get more cramps when I started with a gluten free diet but after being gluten free for more than 5 years, the cramps diminished. I kinda think that your body needs a lot of time to heal after being bombarded with poison all those years.
  11. I use Carlson's fish oil and/or cod liver oil. I use the liquid though. I tried the capsules and they didn't work for me. I use the fish oil in the summer when I am getting vitamin D from the sun and cod liver oil in the winter when I am not out in the sun as much.
  12. It's the Omega 8003 juicer.
  13. I started with a Krups juicer that cost about $40.00. You could probably find quite a few juicers cheap on ebay. I then bought an Omega Juicer for about $250.00. The Omega Juicer is a single gear juicer so it doesn't heat up the juice like the masticating and centrifugal juicers can. I've had my Omega Juicer for 6 years now and it works great and it is...
  14. When I lived outside of Chicago, I had a rather large box of organic lettuce and greens delivered to my door every week for about $20.00 which is really cheap. I juiced every day for months and the nutrition I got from this was much better than taking vitamins. I think it really helped me heal. I wasn't able to eat too much of anything before this. When...
  15. I just started reading this thread not too long ago. I tried to go back from the beginning but it's just way too time consuming. I guess I just don't know you guys very well, but it didn't seem TOO heated to me. I appreciate differences of opinions. And I guess I can appreciate everyone's passion. I know that I can't talk to most of my friends about...
  16. Sorry for jumping in. I've tried to read many of the posts here but there just isn't enough time in the day to read all of this information. I had candida problems for quite awhile. I went through all types of treatments and they never did work. I did have my dental fillings changed to remove amalgam (sp?). I have since had a hair analysis and heavy...
  17. I always used to have sweaty hands and feet but cold and clamy feeling. In my mid 20's I had bad night sweats and yeast infection problems. They kind of went away but I was never able to tolerate the heat. Just blow drying my hair made me sweat even in winter. Then pregnancy became a big trigger for other problems. After I was treated for low thyroid...
  18. Momma Goose, I have always thought it would be wonderful if we only had to eat overy other day. If I could just cook 3 or 4 times a week I would be happy. This 3 times a day thing is tedious and boring. I have young kids and I know that it's hard to be the one watching out for others nutrition as well as your own. As far as being tired, I always feel...
  19. I don't know if this means anything, but I usually deal with C much more than I deal with D. I have allergies to milk but I tended to cheat a lot. ( I just LOVE cheese.) I also just found out about an allergy to eggs. I also feel like tomatoes might be a problem. Lately I have been really strict with my diet as far as dairy, eggs and tomatoes. I now...

    ARCHIVED Light Bulb Moment

Yes, having a positive attitude is the only way to get through many difficulties in life. I am so glad that I have a forum here to vent! (Thanks for listening.) I do have to be happy that my doctor now is willing to run tests on me. 12 years ago I just bounced around from prescription to prescription. (Each doctor thought his drugs were better!) All...
  21. My doctor said something interesting this past week when I was having my third colonoscopy/endoscopy. He did say that he saw some inflammation in my small intestine but when I pushed for more answers he said, "Let's not get ahead of ourselves, I don't want to condemn you to a diet that is hard to deal with." Well, first of all, I have been dealing with...
  22. Here are some ideas that might help you get to sleep. See if any might work for you. Fortunately I do not have sleep problems usually. I am back on gluten for awhile for testing and now I wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep. I have been taking a hot bath with lavendar and drinking something warm. It really helps. Also sleeping...
  23. I have been back on gluten for a few weeks now in order to get testing done. When I started to eat gluten again I wasn't having any symptoms right away. After a few days though, I can DEFINITELY tell I have a problem with gluten. I kind of wish I would get an immediate reaction. It almost seems harder when my reactions are delayed.
  24. I have tried MANY MANY MANY different probiotics. I know that a lot of them are not dairy free and I have a big problem with dairy. Some have worked for me and some did not. I was just reading somewhere that not all types of probiotics will work for everyone. I think that it is definitely worth trying to find one that works for you.
