ARCHIVED Questions About Hemirrhoids
Sweetfudge replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
i don't know if mine are constant, or if they come and go, but i seem to notice them most when i'm having other intestinal issues (after ingesting gluten, or something else i'm sensitive to). i feel them a couple times a month. they suck so bad!!! the enema my dr gave me was a form of hydrocortizone, but all it did was make me feel like i was on my period... -
ARCHIVED Reverse Elimination Diet...anyone?
Sweetfudge posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
i don't know that this is the place to be posting this, but i'm not sure where would be. anyway, i've been reading about elimination diets, and think a reverse elimination diet (get rid of a new food group a week) might be more suited for DH and me. anyone ever tried this one? is it better just to suck it up and deal w/ withdrawals all at once, or drag this... -
how do i know exactly if i have them? i explained my symptoms to my dr, and he said i did, and prescribed me first some hydrocortizone enemas (which i hated!! ), then some cream to use there. the cream helps, but don't feel like it's enough. plus it was a $50 tube, which only works for a couple hrs, and i don't have the money to use it every time i hurt...

ARCHIVED Hypoglycemia + Elimination Diet = ?
Sweetfudge posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
so, seriously thinking about putting myself and DH on an elimination diet. sounds so not fun, but tired of us both being sick, and want to figure out what's making us so. i have severe hypoglycemia. would this make it more difficult? -
Yellow Rose, how is this going for you? I'm thinking about starting an e diet for me and my husband. Here's my main question though: I can handle eating "different" foods, but my husband is a very picky eater. He doesn't like most of the stuff i've read are in e diets. What do I do about him???

ARCHIVED Feeling Sick And Blood In Stool....starting To Get Worried
Sweetfudge replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
as far as bm's go, i'm usually in the middle. i believe i've had problems w/ hem's so i am very careful not to aggravate them. i take flaxseed oil as well, to help things along. could be i got glutened. also, dh just mentioned this, i have been eating a lot of dairy (ice cream) which i don't normally eat. i think that's causing the tummy ache, today anyway... -

ARCHIVED Feeling Sick And Blood In Stool....starting To Get Worried
Sweetfudge posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
so i went to the bathroom today and there was blood there. lots. and very red. what does this mean? and my stomach aches, kind of cramping. also, on wednesday, i was pretty sick. had a bad blood sugar drop (didn't bring enough to eat at work, and was too busy to do anything about it). i started getting so shaky i couldn't do my job, so i went downstairs and... -
sorry to hear that. usually when i go to wendys i stick to a baked potato, w/ or w/out chili, or the southwest taco salad. other than that, i don't trust them. hope you get feeling better soon.

ARCHIVED Favorite gluten-free Thanksgiving Recipes
Sweetfudge replied to lonewolf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
so here's a question. i bought a baking pumpkin. does it work the same as far as measurements go for recipes w/ canned pumpkin stuff? what would i need to do instead? just thought i'd be ambitious. maybe i'll just make it into a soup, and save the canned stuff for the baking. i read in a health food magazine last month that canned pumpkin is actually better... -

ARCHIVED Want A Really Good Sushi Place In Provo Ut
Sweetfudge posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
My new boss loves sushi! He takes everyone in the office out once a month, and he was asking me the other day where I can eat. I would love to try sushi, never had it, but wanted to know if anyone knew of a gluten-safe restaurant. I emailed Happy Sumo, the place EVERYONE tells me is the place for sushi. This is what they said: Hello , Thank you for... -
ARCHIVED Looking For The Best Soup Recipes Out There
Sweetfudge posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Don't know if anyone reads good housekeeping, but they've got this section (or you can find it on their website) about their "Amazing Soup Diet". I was going to try it, and they list several recipes, but I wanted to know if anyone had other recipes I could tweak to make low-cal/fat. The ones they have are minestrone, mexican chicken, greek fish, southwest... -
ARCHIVED Business Trip To Portland, Or...looking For Some Tips
Sweetfudge replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
the trip was wonderful! even better was the fact that my coworkers actually concerned themselves with my diet restrictions. its a very big change from where i was working, where people would put glutenous goodies in front of me and taunt me for not being able to eat them. i couldn't remember the name of the fish house, so we ended up going to McCormick... -
ARCHIVED Teeth Grinding In Sleep
Sweetfudge replied to Sinenox's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
for all of you TMJ sufferers out there, i just gotta say that i know the best doctor around! he has trained under the TMJ experts for the last 10 years, and focuses his practice specifically around TMJ disorders, and curing them. we have a massage therapist in the office, as well as a nutritionist. the doctor is so great, and he understands everything about... -
Hey sharps45 and harrishart! welcome! yes, utah isn't the most up to date with celiac, as far as doctors and shopping goes anyway. i'm ok w/ my dr here in provo, have heard a lot of good about the drs up in slc. no insurance right now though, otherwise i'd make a trip (think i might have more intolerances). sharps - one way to cut back on store time is...

just had another thought....could it be soy sauce? i know they use that black bottle w/ the red lid, can't think of the name, but i have seen it in the kitchen. i know it has gluten in it. wheat is the first ingredient. i'd ask if thats what they use in the pad thai.
-
hm, i've never had a problem w/ them. i always say i have a very severe gluten allergy (seems to make it more "real"), and am very specific about having them cook in clean pans. hm, i don't know what to tell you. maybe go in and have a serious discussion w/ the manager...
