ARCHIVED Anyone Else Get Super Dizzy When Working Out?
Sweetfudge replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Sports and Fitness
K, I will try this. I have been eating something small, like a hardboiled egg, or a handful of almonds. I'll give carbs a shot. Thanks! We just got a blood pressure cuff at work, and I was messing around with it. I'm normal, always am at my dr appts too. Would any of these things be hidden or need special testing? I would rather walk... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Else Get Super Dizzy When Working Out?
Sweetfudge posted a topic in Sports and Fitness
So i've been trying to get back in shape the last two months, and have really struggled with it. I've been going to the gym on average 4x a week for 30 minutes to 1 hr. I have bad knees so I haven't worked myself into running yet. Plus I'm way out of shape. Whenever I start pushing myself (not crazy pushing, just exerting "jogging" energy), I get so dizzy... -
the title pretty much sums it up, had a food allergy test done a while ago, dr said i scored a 3 out of 5/6 on being intolerant to dairy, to try lactaid, and if that didn't help, cut dairy out. well, i have tried lactaid, and it helps when i take it. i seem to forget to take it about half the time, and so i'm not feeling much better. so i think i might be...

ARCHIVED Homemade Bob Evans Biscuits And Gravy
Sweetfudge replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
mmm, this sounds great! i might have to alter it a bit though - homemade biscuits obviously, and maybe add some mushrooms to the sausage, as we used to have this with a cream of mushroom gravy! by the way, what's the best sausage to buy? -
ARCHIVED Baked Mac And Cheese!
Sweetfudge replied to melrobsings's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
mmm sounds good. Rosebud - a good sub for breadcrumbs is to take a couple of van's waffles, crumble them up, throw in a pan with some butter. let them toast a bit, then throw them in the blender until they look like crumbs! then throw on top and bake! i have a pic of them on my blog (view my profile for link)atop tuna casserole. i might just have to make... -
ARCHIVED Christmas Eve Baking Disaster Gone Good
Sweetfudge posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
So on Christmas eve, we were invited to dinner at the in laws. It was an "everyone bring your own dessert" (and me bring my own gluten-free food just in case, cuz grandma's cooking, and she's usually raunchy to me about my "diet"). So I was busy making a turkey, rolls, and stuffing (which all turned out great by the way!). I also had to come up with something... -

ARCHIVED If A Recipe Calls For Cool Whip...
Sweetfudge replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
well, unfortunately i have to, because i'm out of chocolate!! kind of crucial for a flourless chocolate cake. i decided on that, instead of the chocolate cream pie. but i'm still gonna use the whipping cream on top -

ARCHIVED Slow Cooker?
Sweetfudge replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Someday....sigh I love my crock pot! Got it as one of my very few wedding presents, and probably the most practical one! I've made enchilada casserole in the oven before (love that the tops and edges get really crispy), but never tried it in the pot! I love making soups! GFP who used to post here a lot introduced me to a staple in my diet (and budget... -
ARCHIVED When Baking. Featherlight Or Generic?
Sweetfudge replied to melrobsings's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I rely on the girls at eatingglutenfree.com. I have a big rubbermaid tub of each of these made up in my kitchen. if a recipe isn't specific, i use a blend - 1/4 gluten-free mix, and 3/4 featherlight mix. When I went to their cooking class last month, the girls said this is the ultimate "all-purpose" flour mix! it's worked out really well in regular recipe... -

ARCHIVED Nonfood Items...why Worry?
Sweetfudge replied to carecare's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i'm not really too aware of the non-food items in my house, but i guess the concern would be 1) a possible DH problem, and 2) the possibility of inhaling something like detergent, or using a lotion on your hands and then preparing food. but i'm sure someone else will probably be able to clear this up better -
ARCHIVED Gravy For Turkey
Sweetfudge replied to psawyer's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I LOVE GRAVY! I never really made my own gravy before going gluten-free, but now i'm the pro I learned how to do it from Rachael Ray And I've tried it with cornstarch, but I really love it with featherlight flour mix! So good! -
ARCHIVED Christmas Eve/christmas Menus
Sweetfudge replied to Green12's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
First question - what's crudite? Second question - don't Jews not eat pork? I had a friend in high school who was Jewish, and she'd eat bacon cheesburgers, but only because her mom wasn't around. And she always felt guilty afterward. Just wondering -

ARCHIVED Going Crackers... Help?
Sweetfudge replied to Lisa16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
These really are the closest to ritz crackers that i have found. they don't taste as buttery, but they've got the texture and crunch. these are both very "birdseed"-ish....in my opinion. here's a recipe for some "cheez-it"-like crackers, if you're in the mood to bake. I really like them and they're good for dipping. Gonna make a batch this... -
