  1. Definitely a good idea! Another good book is the dummie's guide to celiac disease, or whatever it's called. Maybe even give her a cookbook for christmas (or an early holiday help). yes, hubby NEEDS to be supportive here. Does he understand how real this is? If he views it as "your thing", he won't likely stand up with you, and then MIL will see that...
  2. hm, yeah, been pondering this myself. i bet a regular cookie would do the trick. i think i'm gonna bring a couple types w/ me...w/ and w/out chocolate chips to try out. also, if your daughter's freaked out by "pancakes", then make up some extra batter, and pour them out into hot dog bun shapes (long, narrow), so they don't look like pancakes. also, i made...
  3. thanks everyone for your support. i feel as though this week has been full of tests and blessings. i've been messaging back and forth w/ the ex, and he keeps saying everything i'm feeling, about wanting to have kids, and just talking to him reminds me of all the good times we had. but i've also been going w/ my mom to some church seminars this week, and this...
  4. my husband said i should try an elimination diet, but kind of just want to be told what i can't eat and try and make everything else work. what about candida? does that need testing for? i should just do more research, but i'm not in the mood right now. sorry hope someone can help.
  5. as far as i have been told, NOT gluten-free which makes me sad b/c i loved the Naked Juice Green Machine w/ wheat grass. Just makes me sick
  6. hm, no blueberries, but i ate plums, apples, strawberries, and drank some detox herb tea. i'm normal now (as far as bm's go anyway), so not too worried. thanks for the support
  7. i guess i just wanted to vent. so, i've been dealing w/ work crap, but i feel like maybe things are getting better?... talked w/ one of my coworkers today, the closest one to a friend i suppose (not that we hang out or anything). she helped me feel more at ease w/ the work situation. husband's been stressed, money's tight, so i don't know if changing jobs...
  8. much lighter today. thank goodness!
  9. no iron. i took some pepto on sunday night. been tummy funny the past few days, either cramps or bloating or both.
  10. i swear by this book! i haven't tried one bad recipe yet! it's called Life Tastes Good Again, and you can get it (and lots of recipes by the writers) at www.eatingglutenfree.com
  11. Blacker than black poo! Stinky! And a streak of blood on my TP. What does this mean?
  12. thanks everyone for your support. i'm gonna hang tight, act nice, and in the meantime look elsewhere. Yeah, we usually end up working later than scheduled a couple times a week, as our doctors often get behind. It's annoying but we all deal w/ it. The thing that frustrated me the most was that I had plans, but no one seemed to care. I don't want...
  13. i have been so stressed and frustrated w/ my job at a dental office. i love the environment, but not the people i work with or the way the business is run. i'm tired of being picked on, disrespected, getting into fights w/ my husband b/c he says i don't stand up for myself and they mess up our plans by throwing crap at me. this last weekend i've been so pissed...
  14. So i have an overabundance of tomatoes in my garden, and made some killer sauce last week. I thought about recreating the recipe and canning or freezing it. Canning would be preferable since I don't have much freezer space. Thought I'd get the general idea of the thing here. I know there's a canning section in my BHG cookbook, I just haven't read through...
  15. this sounds very good for a light dessert. I will have to try it sometime!
  16. thanks for posting. i'm gonna have to give in and make these the pics on the allrecipes's site look amazing!
  17. one of my coworkers told me she heard about enjoy life on cnn or something the other day, and said i should try them it was cute.
  18. shake-n-bake is alive again...sorta gonna have to give this one a try!
  19. thanks for the link, i will have to look into it come payday i need some great gluten-free crackers!!
  20. i couldn't ask my husband to cut out all his staple foods, nor could i afford to feed us both on strictly gluten-free food. So he has everything separate from me. A shelf in the fridge for his bread, butter, tortillas, etc., and one in the freezer for waffles and burritos. A cupboard for cereal. A separate toaster, away from mine. It's helped tons! The only...
  21. what do you find the best way to inform someone of your situation? is it still ok to say we have an allergy, or do we need to be more severe? that would be great!!! let me just say BB, that your first letter made me cry. I then went and read what she had said, and i got angry. i think i would have responded the same way. Bravo!!! i do agree w...
  22. i also was diagnosed in my teens. my parents thought i was just experiencing "normal" teen-moodswings. i don't think a gluten intolerance caused my depression but i know both feed off each other. i get so emotional when i'm glutened, and when i get depressed, i succomb to eating gluten more easily. i want to know how to get more into alternative medicines...
  23. yes, i have bloat all the time. i hate it. i think i might have other food intolerances, and stress/anxiety problems. hope you and your dr can get this figured out. i have an appt tomorrow w/ my general dr.
  24. I guess this is a gluten-related question, but really I just want to know which brands are trustworthy, and have the highest quality/undiluted products. I'm looking at things like valerian root, marshmallow, cayanne pepper, fennel...etc. Thanks!
