Anyone ever tried "Baker's Edge Nonstick Edge Brownie Pan" for gluten free baking? I was thinking it would probably work fine for brownies, but was wondering about cakes and breads. I know often my breads come out a little doughy in the middle, even when the outside is on the verge of being overbaked. Been wanting to buy one of these pans for awhile, wondered...

What's the best place to buy it online? Amazon has some, but I don't know how well priced it is, in comparison to anything else. I'd love to give some a try. I found this great recipe for chocolate chip cookies the other day: Open Original Shared Link

ARCHIVED Yams Vs. Sweet Potatoes
Sweetfudge replied to LittleMissPatient's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I also can't tolerate white potatoes, but have had no problems with either yams or sweet potatoes. Interesting post about Yams vs Sweet Potatoes: "Today the U.S. Department of Agriculture requires labels with the term ‘yam’ to be accompanied by the term ‘sweet potato.’ Unless you specifically search for yams, which are usually found in an international market,... -

ARCHIVED Best State To Live In For The gluten-free Diet?
Sweetfudge replied to crayola's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Definitely not Utah!!!! My family all lives up in Oregon and Washington, and my sister says they carry so much gluten-free stuff in all the grocery stores in Seattle. My mom always sends me gluten-free goodies she sees at the grocery stores in Portland too. There seem to be a lot more restaurants that are accomodating to a gluten-free diet up there as well... -
ARCHIVED Backpacking South East Asia-just Returned!
Sweetfudge replied to mysecretcurse's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Wow, this sounds like it was quite an experience. I'm so excited for you that you were able to go on this trip. Other than a couple of (really really) bad experiences, it sounds like it was incredible! I would love to visit Asia someday, and I'm glad to hear a firsthand experience on gluten free manuvering I'm happy to know you came out safe (and hopefully... -
How frustrating! I've had a couple bad experiences at chili's as well. I asked for a gluten free menu once, and they went to go find it, brought out the chips and salsa (I asked if these were gluten-free, and was told yes). Then they finally brought me the menu (apparently they only had one, and someone else had been using it)...we were halfway through the...

hmm, interesting. i'm potato intolerant, i might have to look for this to try in some recipes that call for potato starch.

Here's an old reply that I made in another post about vegas last year: Hey! As far as vegas goes, i was just there a month ago, and had some great dining experiences. We went to jimmy buffet's margaritaville - had a great seafood salad there. Ate at the rainforest cafe - had a great cedar salmon. Read somewhere that their fries are safe, but when I...

I've been meaning to try a wraps recipe (actually, I was going to try the one from gluten-free Gobsmacked, ironically enough). This one looks great! Thanks

ARCHIVED Did I Cause All This?
Sweetfudge replied to hollyhock's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
From my understanding, what you experienced is quite common. Many people notice that once they stop eating gluten, they have a stronger reaction to it when they do eat it. For five weeks your body was healing, and recovering for something that was potentially harming it. It basically threw a tantrum when you brought that back into your system because it felt... -
ARCHIVED Help! Local Coffee House Wants To Offer Gluten-free Treat, Advice On What/how?
Sweetfudge replied to lyceum's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
A flourless chocolate cookie/cake would be good, or flourless peanut butter cookies. If there's a big market out there for gluten-free products, I bet they could even buy gluten-free flours in bulk from the health food stores. That's what I do, and it's much cheaper than buying the small bags of flours. I think that's great that they're willing to accommodate... -
ARCHIVED Dairy Free And G/f Chocolate Easter Bunnies
Sweetfudge replied to JustMe75's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Here is the response I got from them: "At this time the pretzels are run on the same line as the other chocolates and if you are severely allergic to trace amounts of gluten I would not recommend. If there is enough gluten free interest we may eventually discontinue pretzels and go completely gluten free so check back." If you're interested, e-mail... -
ARCHIVED Dairy Free And G/f Chocolate Easter Bunnies
Sweetfudge replied to JustMe75's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just thought I'd post this, as it took me a few minutes to find it: "Are your chocolates gluten free? The chocolates are gluten free except for the covered pretzels. The same facility is utilized, however. Do you bring nut products or milk products into your facility? All ingredients entering our facility are carefully scrutinized for... -
ARCHIVED Scooped Biscuits
Sweetfudge replied to purple's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Wow, that picture got my mouth watering! This is a must-try! I was thinking of making chicken and dumplings this weekend, glad to have a better biscuit recipe to use! Thanks for sharing Which recipe variation did you like more? -
That is really funny. Yeah, I researched a bit about cooking turkey in the crock after I saw Stephanie's recipe for it. Seems like they can dry out easily. I've tried it w/ and w/out the bacon on top, and noticed a difference. I've also used turkey bacon on top. I think it just helps keep it extra moist. And Stephanie says not to open the crock more than...

i also really like the crockpot365 blog. she's got some great recipes there. i'm trying out her moroccan lentil stew this weekend. i actually just made a turkey in the crockpot, based on one of her recipes. it's basically a 5-6 lb turkey (i buy the turkey breast b/c it's easier to clean off the bones), a few strips of bacon, a cup of chicken broth, and some...

ARCHIVED I Cry At The Drop Of A Hat
Sweetfudge replied to *lee-lee*'s topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Like everyone else has said, sounds to me like stress/emotional overload. I've been through times like what you're going through, where everything makes you cry, and you just feel on edge all the time. I used to cry all the time when watching TV. I still do occasionally. And when reading a good book I say, when you're alone, or the BF understands you're... -
ARCHIVED Felt Better In Mexico...why?
Sweetfudge replied to wild fisher's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've noticed I feel a lot better when I'm on vacation, even when I'm not the most careful about what I'm eating. I think it might have to do with the lack of stress...for me anyway. It could also be the food they made you. Lots of corn products Glad you had a nice trip though! Where in Mexico did you go? -

ARCHIVED Care Box Ideas?
Sweetfudge replied to Sientara's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Does she know what in chocolate makes her sick? My cousin was always having sinus problems, and narrowed it down to when she ate chocolate. I gave her a bag of Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips, and she's hooked. Hasn't had any problems eating them. That might be an idea Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Doctor Shocked At My Refusal For Biopsy
Sweetfudge replied to foodiegurl's topic in Doctors
I've known people with the opposite problem, where their Dr doesn't think they need the biopsy, and they do. It's kind of funny how some Dr's think their word is gold, and we should all take it for law. That bugs me! I think you need to do what you feel is best. Getting a second opinion is always good as well. Not all Dr's think alike.
