  3. this is what happened to me from the start. i was trying so hard to make "normal" foods that i ended up gaining weight from all the cookies/bread/cake. in my experience, having all the elements of your health lined up is the best way to get to your ideal weight. i've been trying to lose weight for 5 years, and only this last year was i able to. i had gotten...

  5. oooh, i'm so excited. and strawberry chex...that sounds very intriguing! the 2nd link - honey kix - does list caramel color. does GM list sources if that's from gluten? haha
  6. mmm, some good recipes here. thanks for the ideas. i like that "chips pizza" idea. my mom used to make tuna noodle casserole with crushed cheese doritos on top. that was good stuff!
  7. i worked w/ my doctor to get off all my medications in 2007. i was on 2 antidepressants and an anti-anxiety med. take it really slow. one of the reasons i decided to get off the meds was the side effects. another was that i ran out of them for a couple days when i was on vacation w/ my mom, and i got SO sick from withdrawals. it was a miserable week until...

  9. how frustrating! finding good vegan cheese is difficult. thanks for the warning.
  10. Here's what I take w/ me when traveling: Tuna w/ crackers, nuts, dried fruit, fresh fruit, veggies, jerky, gluten-free trail mix/granola, cream of rice (w/ brown sugar and cinnamon mixed in already), muffins, breads. Went on a trip w/ my mom, and brought a huge ziploc bag full of homemade cheese-it crackers (pre-dairy free days) and coconut-lemon muffins...
  11. I believe some of the newer boxes also state it on the front of the box.
  12. I would recommend you bring your own food. My in-laws aren't that bad, but my MIL "forgets" an awful lot (as do her mother and sister whom we frequently eat with). For Thanksgiving and Christmas this year I made my own turkey, sweet potatoes, stuffing, gravy and rolls to bring in a tupperware. I even made a gluten-free/DF lemon cream coffeecake to share ...
  13. Does anyone have a good recipe for dairy free yogurt or greek yogurt? I don't have a yogurt maker. What substitutes work best?
  14. Thanks, I will stop worrying about it Good to know. Wow, that's a lot of Disney meals We're getting close now! I'm so excited! Thanks again all for the help!
  15. Hey all! Thanks for the helpful info I'm feeling much better about this whole thing. One concern I do still have (as this is an issue in my every day life at home)...what do I do about potatoes? Obviously they're a common side dish, and a lot of the guests on those websites mention french fries/mashed potatoes/hash browns. But my tummy just can't handle...
  16. The first time I tried it, I wasn't so impressed w/ the spinach and feta either, but I had bought a few, so I spruced it up a bit. I added some tomato sauce, hamburger, canadian bacon, and tomatoes to the top, and ended up really enjoying it. I can't eat them any more (DF), but I do sometimes crave that one.
  17. Here's to a great new year
  18. Here is mine/DH's favorite sweet potato cornbread recipe. Not exactly what you requested, but I bet it would make great cornbread muffins: Open Original Shared Link She also mentions at the bottom of the page a way to serve up the bread fried in oil. That is way yummy! Ooh, and here's another good one. I couldn't decide if this was more of a breakfast...
  19. lol Happy Birthday to you all, and a Happy New Year everyone!!

  23. Thanks Sailing Girl. What kind of desserts do they offer that are both gluten and dairy free? I would love some french fries, but I did another potato test the other day, and got so sick from it I'm getting more and more excited to go! And to not have to cook! Yay!
  24. that bread looks delicious! do you think it would work as well w/ dried rosemary? or would that be gross?
  25. So, we have a meal voucher for $15 off at Planet Hollywood in Downtown Disney for our trip next month. I was just wondering what experiences y'all have had w/ the Planet Hollywood restaurants, and what can I eat there? Or should we just stick to Disney, and forget about the coupon? Thanks
