  1. I've made dumplings successfully using Bette Hagman's Featherlight Flour mix: 2 C. Rice Flour 2 C. Tapioca Flour 2 C. Cornstarch 2 Tb. Potato Flour (not potato starch flour) I was just thinking of making chicken and dumplings this weekend
  2. I can attest that it does help to get this off your chest. And I definitely agree with everyone who has said that you have to reevaluate your priorities. Yes, careers are important, paying the bills is important, but do you want to be doing it together or alone? I've read LOTS of self-help and marriage help books, and one correlation I've noticed is that...
  3. welcome, and congrats on feeling better! it's awesome isn't it? don't be a stranger
  4. wow this sounds like an interesting combination! i'm gonna have to give it a try! thanks for sharing.
  5. from my understanding, this is a test to see your immune response to foods. i had it done a few months ago, and came back negative for everything. my doctor said that this didn't rule out celiac disease, since it's not an ALLERGY. nor did it rule out lactose intolerance, or any "sensitivities" i might have. it just checked for any allergic response my body...
  6. Thanks for sharing this recipe Lisa! I've never tried a Mandeltorte, but it sounds really good! Omg I have such a huge "to try file"!!
  7. i also reacted very badly to amy's frozen dinners. one thing i like to do on weekends is to make a lot of food, then dish it out into serving-sized tupperware and put it all in the freezer. that way i have easy meals on those nights i don't have time to cook. also make great lunches! just put in the fridge the night before, or take out of the freezer in the...
  8. awesome! thanks for the helpful hints!
  9. ooh, that recipe looks great! i like to serve my chili over potatoes (fries, mashed or baked), but i never thought of adding the potatos TO the chili!
  10. yeah, haven't had any luck with either target or walmart - all i could find was brach's omg, i don't care about the price, i'm getting me some of that! PS I just checked amazon, and they only have it in bulk. jelly belly's website has 9 oz bags for $5.99 and 16 oz for $8.99. Just FYI
  11. mmm, good recipes! i'll have to try that balsamic vinegar on taco meat! i think i might just have to make a beanless version of your crockpot chili! i've been craving cincinnati chili for awhile, and still have some great sweet potato cornbread in the freezer!
  12. I think this was a great response! I hope she was able to understand a little more of what an ordeal eating out can be with food allergies. I think this is crucial in any situation dealing with food allergies and eating out. I know I have had to keep my temper before at restaurants, and even at my husband's family gatherings! I believe that as...
  13. No, it's not just you it annoys me a great deal! You've come to a great place to get answers and help for mastering this "lifestyle". Welcome aboard!
  14. thanks for all the recipes I'm excited to try them! I made some ginger tea last night (think i'm coming down with something), and it was great! What's the best way to store ginger?
  15. hm, how do you think this would taste without the beans? kinda like every other mexican dish that i have to make gluten-free/DF and bean free? might just try it anyway on a scaled down version...
  16. So, I've been reading a lot about the benefits of ginger. Thought I'd try some out, haven't used it much in cooking. They say fresh is the best, but any recipes calling for ginger will do. Also, I know a lot of main dishes using ginger call for soy sauce, but since I'm trying to avoid soy, if anyone knows of a substitute, I'd be delighted! Thanks!
  17. this is a really good idea i'm sure it would be very interesting to read!
  18. anyone able to find candy corn at target yet? wondering if i should make a trip out to the one closest to me. also, anyone know if the 2008 candy list has come out?
  19. wow! that's a lot to ask of people who don't have to do it. i'm impressed you got your husband to do it out of the house. my hubby has a hard time with it, even though he's great and very supportive of me, and what i make at home. hope it goes well
  20. you mean like making candy? like pouring the chocolate into molds? i'm sure it would work. i made the enjoy life chips into mexican chocolate bark the other day, and while i didn't make shapes out of it, melting it then refrigerating it worked out great. it's good stuff
  21. i'm sorry hon. people can be so mean. i used to get asked that a lot when i was first diagnosed. i agree with carla, in that you ought to take a look at what else it could be. i worked with my doctor, and was able to eliminate dairy, and am now in the process of avoiding soy. my bloating has gone down, but the cramps are still here, if not quite in full force...
